Swimming 12:00 [3] 0.3 km (40:00 / km)

12 x 25m swimming, time estimated. Spent 40 minutes in the water.

Sounds like intervals, and I guess they are, but it's basically my first swimming in a year, and my first laps in many years. The 25m was about all I could do before I had to stop, so I had a lot of recovery. The first three laps I was going a little too fast, and I lost my form in the last 10m, causing me to screw up my breathing---I had to stop twice 5m from the end of the pool because I sucked in water.

But the good news is: I survived, I had a blast, I got better (I'm barely a swimmer), and I'll be going back. It was so wonderful to be at an outdoor pool with the sun low in the sky and...It was just wonderful.
9 PM

Cycling 20:00 [3]

Legs d-e-a-d dead at first. And, uhhh, TMI alert, way way more midsection numbness than normal.

AMT or Elliptical Trainer 12:00 [3]

Nice effort in spite of feeling depleted. Highest HR of the workout (minus the swim).

Walking 10:00 [1]

Cool down.

Course set-check-pick 2:15:00 [1] 5.0 km (27:00 / km) +99m 24:34 / km
shoes: Nike Trail (Blue)

5km is an estimate. I did a fair bit of driving, but the time is quite small (and subtracted). 24 Controls. Click blue globe...

Beautiful fifth of July. Took 5 hours off work---a good use of vacation time.

I also drove to Harveysburg for cold beverages about 15 minutes before anyone arrived, so it was pretty comfortably timed. Still took longer than I expected. (Had water in the car, but it was hot!)

Mapping 30:00 [1] 3.0 km (10:00 / km) +37m 9:25 / km
shoes: Nike Trail (Blue)

2 hours of map updates at Caesar Creek. Claiming 30 minutes. (GPS was stopped accidently for about 40 minutes.) Intentionally left GPS on when I drove to Harveysburg for beverages afterwards. Last week I took GPS coordinates at 5 points around the perimeter of the big map---When I did the UTM grid overlay, it indicated the map scale was off by a few percent---I'm hoping to fix that, or at least reduce the error.

One lesson from today: Mapping is really complicated sometimes. Especially when the green is too thick to see through.

Another lesson is: Take a GPS with 1 second updates. The smart recording kinda sucks for mapping.

Orienteering 1:11:13 [4] *** 4.49 km (15:52 / km) +96m 14:20 / km
shoes: Nike Trail (Blue)

Sprint-Middle at Sebald Park. A lot of fun, although I did get my hat knocked off like 20 times, got flipped in the cornea by a branch, got scraped in the eyelid and eyebrow by another branch, and walked glasses first into a small tree, bending my glasses (fixed on the spot). Not my best day. I have 2 slowest splits (ouch), but I really deserve them both. Allergies kicked in really hard in some of the green.
12 PM

Orienteering race 29:12 [3] ** 2.2 km (13:16 / km) +9m 13:00 / km

Sprint (2.2km) at Sebald Park. Again, very slow. Had fun anyway, plus I really needed the workout. I must find my HR Monitor Strap so I can figure out why I'm going so slow.

Control 1 was where I walked into a tree glasses first and spent maybe 40 seconds bending them back. 2 was my only real boom.

And if you're wondering about my gps track (click the little blue globe), yeah, I totally went to Half Price Books after. With my GPS running.
