Running 27:41 [3] 3.32 km (8:20 / km) +55m 7:42 / km

One hill route (without a loop of the rec center).

Needed a quicker run than normal.

The iPod brought up a few fast tempo songs initially, but settled into a slow tempo string of songs for the long run back up the hill and back to the house.

It bugs me that I enjoy running so much more with music. I've been listening to music while cutting grass since high school, and when I forget to get out a cassette player, radio, or iPod for that, I realize it really fast, and it's basically unbearable to continue without music.

Running is, at least for now, completely tolerable without music. My mind wanders and I think about mostly random stuff that I need to think about. I'm worried that the music will take away that thinking time. I drive a lot (2 hours a day), and I probably get enough thinking time there, so it's not a huge worry.

I can't imagine trying to orienteer with music. It might help me run harder, but it would cut into my focus so much I don't think I could navigate to music. Maybe it's worth a try. Just joking.

Running to music, though, just seems more fun. I rarely listen to music in the car, so maybe I have a music deficit built up. I love how my legs automatically pick up the tempo to match the song, although sometimes for slow songs I have to resort to odd off-beat counts to keep my legs turning over enough.

Today is 4 weeks with the broken wrist. I don't remember if I mentioned this before, but the doctor says the majority of the bone fracture will be healed within the next 2 weeks, but the ligament damage means I'll be wearing the brace/splint for 2 to 5 more months. I take off the splint once a day to shower, and although it feels a lot better than it did, there are some things that I just can't do. I've avoided major pain, but I've definitely tweaked the injured parts, and I've found a few new things that cause pain.
