Sunny, 38F. Nice to get out, but didn't run very much. Lots of uphill, leaves obscuring sometimes dubious footing and entry of beech undergrowth. Oh, and I'm woefully not in shape for this. But nice to get out, good to see this map again and looks like a decent turnout...
And my highest weekly volume since mid August, which is pretty sad...

Was going to run at Wolf Den on my way to RI to grab Jackson, couldn't find a map, but came across GWWMA so went there instead since I've never actually been. This was mostly trail running with a map, albeit a 33 year old map. Some new trails not on map, but surprisingly solid for its age. Not accustomed to 1:15000 anymore, but it is what it is. I've heard horrors about this map & veg, but where I went it didn't seem to bad. Certainly not pristine white woods, but certainly not as trashy as I been led to believe. And I got out...
AOWN - As I was going over a fallen tree by a small stream, my foot came down about a foot and half away from a small (volleyball sized) porcupine having a drink from the stream. I stopped and we chatted for a few - he just sat there and watched me carefully but made no move to scurry away - perhaps because I was so close.. I've seen my share of porcupines in the woods, but never at quite this intimate range..

New plan - skip out of work early, stop by Case and/or Porter to run in daylight on my way to East Hartford to fetch Anna. Had all my running gear... except shoes... doh!!... Ran in boots, quite a stylish look. Kept it to one loop up to Lookout Mtn and back on carriage road. Quite a lot of water in some spots, mud was earned.. Got out though.. Hope to make it a regular thing..
