Very cold, slick & snowy on greasy leaves. About double my usual racing time for the course. But got out, that's what counts. With Brad, Charlie, Lisa, Dom & Noosa

Note

Two early departures and a no-show... Looks like the mid day escape isn't happening this day...

Run - Road 41:25 [3] 7.7 km (5:23 / km) +100m 5:03 / km
shoes: Conquest 2014

Not feeling it today, but had to go to the credit union to transfer some tuition monies. So out the door I went. Across campus to bank(s) then down Stonemill, short stretch on the Nipmuck, then back up Gurleyville to campus, up the Great Lawn and back... meh.. legs feel very achy today...

Run - Trail (Moss Sanctuary) 16:50 [3] 3.0 km (5:37 / km) +50m 5:11 / km
shoes: Conquest 2014

cw loop around the sanctuary over on the south side of campus. Never been in here, small, but the trails, although leaf covered, didn't have a lot of toe-catchers to deal with. And certainly pleasant enough to extend by just running multiple loops. This run includes two doglegs to alternate entrances, will need to measure just the inner loop...

Run - Road warm up/down 21:00 [3] 4.3 km (4:53 / km) +30m 4:43 / km
shoes: Conquest 2014

Across campus to Moss Sanctuary (paved paths) and then back via Eastwood > Hillside > Subway (for a BLT)

After enduring Peter's poking fun at my increasing portliness yesterday (not undeserved btw) I figured I'd try and see if I can't forcibly carve some time out during the middle of the day. I frequently bring running stuff to work, but rarely manage to break away. But as Peter pointed out, its a matter of prioritizing and for health reasons alone, I really need to do this. And I've been averaging 9 hours or so a day at work (weekends not included) and contractually (on paper at least) I'm supposedly working 7 hours a day. So I guess there is room in there for me to get outside without real repurcussions. Planned on heading out at 10:30, actually got out at 11. So not too bad.

Not a lot of options around campus without a lot of roads, but the Shelter Falls park gives me some singletrack (exposed roots & rocks under leaves), some rutted jeep road and open fields and a minimum of tarmac. And a route I can easily do in under an hour.

And by winding my over behind Horsebarn Hill, I can get on the Nipmuck either northbound or southbound, although the stretch of trail along the river is pretty eroded and crappy running. But it something I guess..
