Didn't run yesterday, so not wanting to start the 2nd half the year with a pair of zeros I got up to get an early run in. Figured on down to Hare and back for an easy 3 miler.

Got to Hare & opted to head up into to woods and make it a 5 miler but got the turnaround point and decided it was a nice morning so I'd keep going and run Pinnacle Rd around and come back along the lake.

Got to end of lake but rather than turning L for home I followed the Shenipsit Trail out along the old trolley line to Rt 74 where a few other folks were gathering for a 7am run. Turned around and ran with them for a while then headed for home.

Hit the dirt road at Hare and briefly contemplated going back up in the woods again, but turned R instead and decided to pick up the pace for the final mile of dirt. Then an easy half mile back to the house.

A nice enjoyable long run, not at all a slog. And the extra mileage make up for nothing yesterday. Family headed to NH on Monday without me, so looks like I may be racing most evenings this week - Wickham, Bolton & Holyoke....

Bike - Recumbent (East Bay Bike Path) 2:30:00 [2] 25.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Slipstream

Got Hayden up early and drove over to the other side of Providence and met up with Uncle Jon for a bike ride on the East Bay Path. First time we've been there though Jon used to bike & roller-blade there quite a bit. Very nice ride along the bay, marshes and quiet wooded right-of ways near Providence. Started in Warren and rode to the southern end, then headed North. Hayden got a bit tired after about 2 hours so we turned around and did not go all the way into Providence. Nice to ride somewhere new...

Run - Trail race (Bolton #1) 16:52 [5] 3.7 km (4:34 / km)
(sick) shoes: old 285 Roclite A

Too much chest and head congestion still to really push, but the right calf (which has been tight the past two days) felt fine. Faded on the climb back up the hill but found a little something at the end to pass and outkick Deb & a young fast guy in the last 200m or so.

Great night for running, trails a bit muddy but fine by me. Good Strider turnout - the Forrest kids in the 100m, Hayden & Shep representing in the 1mi, John, Deb, Kristina, Jaime, Bekkie, Joe, Vicki & myself in the 2.3 mile long(sic) event. Good fun.

well, didn't get bike riding with Hayden as he got a better offer - swimming @ lake w/ friend. On the positive side, Ellen & I snuck out for a date night and went to Eastside Grill in NoHo. Margaritas, gumbo & etouffe' - quite nice. Can't remember the last we went out to dinner just the two of us. Walked over to Harrell's for ice cream but it was stupid packed, so we just enjoyed a walk around downtown before heading home.
