Hiking (Hockanum) 35:00 [0]
shoes: NB 474

Ran some errands, then had some time to kill before taking Hayden to a birthday party, so we did a short hike along the Hockanum in Manchester (sure beats killing time at the mall).

Bike - Recumbent hills (Tolland Green) 30:00 [3] 12.0 km (2:30 / km) +210m 2:18 / km
shoes: Slipstream

Got home later in the afternoon and had been thinking while driving that I really wanted to get out on the bike, not having gotten any sort of ride in yet this year. Checked email and had a note from Bruce that he was going to be at the church on the green from 4-6 doing some landscape work and he had some instructions for some ITB stretches we've been talking about in the car. It was a little after 5 and I had just about enough time before dinner to zip to the green and back. Raining lightly, but just jumped on the bike in street clothes and jacket and headed out. Hills were tough, but not any worse than they are when I'm actually in bike shape, so its a good sign.

Would like to be able to commute and get some riding time in (one of my New Years goals) but since I'm picking Anna up from school these days, its a little tough to do on the bike.... I'm guessing that goal (75 commuting days) is probably not going to happen.

Run - Trail (Shenipsit) 1:10:00 [3] 11.5 km (6:05 / km) +260m 5:28 / km
weight:75.3kg shoes: NB 790 {orange}

cool, showery AM run at forest. No one else in attendance, but that's fine as I was planning on running down some trail segments I hadn't been on, or at least not in a long time, to add them to the Soapstone map. Found a nice single track segment along the east side of Woodchuck. Slow to get started, felt pretty good by 15 minutes in, nice run overall, though the knees were a bit achy afterwards.

Note

Had visions of going for a bike ride this afternoon - haven't been on one yet this year - but it just didn't happen. wound up putzing around doing some outside chores before showery weather moves in tomorrow and the weekend.

Hip joint bugging me a bit - I think that may be the cause of my left leg ailments plus I've been totally wiped all week - hard to say if its the couple late nights (low sleep) Fri & Sat, or if its the lyme fatigue returning now that I've been off the AB's for a little over a week. Will give it some more time

Run - Trail hills (Crandalls) 28:40 [3] 5.6 km (5:07 / km) +135m 4:34 / km
shoes: Adidas Response Trail 14

Same time, different combination of trails. Pushed the hills - both up and down, cruised the flatter sections. About 20 degrees cooler today, though still in short sleeves, but never really warmed up.

My left leg issue seems to be associated with some sort of problem with my L hip joint. I've noticed some minor discomfort, not really pain, and the glute and upper thigh muscles have been particularly tight. Quite disconcerting, but joint issues are another lyme symptom, so perhaps there is some lyme related inflammation there causing issues when I run longer distances.

Run - Trail hills (Crandalls) 30:39 [3] 5.4 km (5:41 / km) +195m 4:48 / km
shoes: Adidas Response Trail 14

Dawn run at Crandalls on way in to work. Its light early enough that I should try to get something short in most days. Riding the bike to work isn't panning out since I usually have to pick one or more of the kids up on the way home - not so easy on the bike. Nice AM to be out - probably about 60F, lots of deer, eastern horizon turning crimson red as I came down off the upper hill - going to be a hot one...
