Orienteering (Coups Sawmill Training) 1:13:55 [4] 9.3 km (7:57 / km) +220m 7:06 / km
ahr:156 max:182 spiked:16/19c (sick)

still have remnant of cold. Set a course to run on basemap at Coups Sawmill. Set legs to practice rough compass (holding compass away from body, rather than close to ensure body turning correct way rather than just wrist turning). Some pretty long legs, including some cross slope runs.

Two major errors, back to back about halfway through. First running uphill along spur got off the low side and ran under my attack point (small marsh) when I climbed back up, I saw a small marsh ahead - got to marsh and shape did not seem to match, went beyond to where boulder should have been and nothing. Realized fairly quickly that I was at a pair of marshes beyond mine (and on edge of printed map), wrapped back around other side of marshes and back to boulder - must have come up hill just about at boulder but did not see it when looking at wrong marsh ahead of me. Next leg I wasn't focusing on the compass properly and drifted left about 100m away from control - real obvious cliffs, so I looked S and immediately saw them. Rest of run was good. Kept up a good pace (HR 156) and a fine morning to be in the woods. Passed a few Mtn Bikers as I was heading back.

Run - Trail (Sampler) 35:30 [3] 6.1 km (5:49 / km) +165m 5:08 / km
ahr:147 max:178 rhr:52 (sick)

Easy run w/ Kevin. Hamstrings tight, slight twinge in knee about 4-5 minutes in on dirt road. Eased up a bit, but the knee thing didn't reappear during rest of run.

Considering running the Soapstone Assault tomorrow - probably shouldn't, but it sounds enticing - 6 climbs up and down soapstone from a circuit around the base. Age handicapped starts.

Run - Road (Campus) 19:01 [4]
ahr:159 max:176 (sick)

Still battling cold, but wanted to get out for a run, even if just a short road run. Planned to go easy, but as usual, got sucked into running faster than I should have. Not sure on distance, doesn't really matter.. Hamstrings feel fine now, but chest very tight after run.

Other (Mt Monadnock) 5:11:00 [1]
ahr:81 max:108 (sick)

Family hike up Grand Monadnock in NH. Nice day, slow pace with kids but still had to climb all the rock, often lifting younger ones up/down the trickier sections. Calves sore in evening - probably due to run Sun combined w/ hike Mon after 6 weeks of inactivity.
