Run - Trail (Crandalls) 18:16 [3] 3.68 km (4:58 / km)

5:40am - 45F, overcast but sunlight coming under clouds from the east illuminating the tree tops and underside of clouds. Rather ethereal....
Fell about 4 minutes in trying to avoid mud (didn't). Felt really strong on second half with a bit of EI Asthma. Not strong enough to break PR. [EQT Tridents]

Orienteering (Gay City Score-O) 1:26:29 [3] 11.44 km (7:34 / km)

1PM, 65F, lightly overcast. Vetting Score-O course for 6/3/00 Annual Picnic event. Made a few minor errors but got all 33 controls in under 90 minutes. Should be doable by our better orienteers. We shall see.. [Jukola Spiders]

Run - Trail (Sampler + Moonlight cours) 1:02:35 [3] 10.6 km (5:54 / km)

8am - sunny, mid 50's. Ran with Kevin Simons and Jim Henderson. A bit muddy in spots. Ran down quarry trail pretty hard. Felt good... [EQT Tridents]

Other (Volleyball) 45:00 [2]

Played a bit of V-Ball at Departmental Picnic

Thursday May 25, 2000 #

Run - Road (House to end of Dirt Road) 21:26 [3] 3.5 km (6:07 / km)

8:40pm - clear, cool, twilight. Did not get to get a trail run in today, so just ran a short stretch out the dirt road to Hale Rd. turnaround. [EQT Trident]

Wednesday May 24, 2000 #

Run - Trail (Skyline <-> Minnechoag) 1:04:43 [3] 11.25 km (5:45 / km)

5:45 pm - sunny between t-storms - 75, near 100% humidity. Got to parking lot too late to run w/ Kevin, so did an out and back along ridge to the river. Very slick on freshly rained upon trails. Wandered off west side of ridge outbound, and east side of ridge on return trip. [EQT Tridents]

Orienteering (Gay City 5/7/00 Red 6.6km) 51:49 [3] 7.47 km (6:56 / km)

2pm - Ran 5/7/00 Red Course. Distance/pace above is along actual route measured in OCAD. (P2P Pace = 7:51 min/km) Woods greener & wetter than when set. Weather about the same - warm & humid, partly sunny. Intentionally ran through dark green on legs 2, 5, 8 & 11 for training reasons. Took trail options on 7, 9, 10 & 12. Felt pretty good, but legs were reluctant on later hills. [Jukola Spiders]

Run - Trail (Soapstone 1/2 Marathon (1) 55:53 [1] 5.84 km (9:34 / km)

9am - cool, drizzly. Ran sweep to the first water stop. Walked most of the way, jogged a bit on the road but had to stay in last position. Needless to say I was dead last at the first water stop so I broke the race down into the walking segment, and then the racing segment. [Jukola Spiders]

Run - Trail (Soapstone 1/2 Marathon) 1:39:45 [4] 17.21 km (5:48 / km)

After sweeping the 1st 4 miles of the course, I was allowed to run. Ran hard from 1st to 2nd water stop to catch trailing packs. Hammered the stream bed really hard - passing 34 runners in less than a 1/2 mile. Slowed a little out of the stream bed but gradually picked up speed toward the end and passed many folks and finished very, very strong. did not manage to catch Glen Tryson though, he finished about 4 minutes ahead of me. - Total Time - 2:35:37 Place - ???

Run - Trail (Mashamoquet ReCon) 1:01:52 [2] 9.5 km (6:31 / km)

2PM - rainy, 40ish - ran blue loop cw to N end of park, then red loop ccw back to blue then back to HQ. Getting a feel for the terrain for a soon to get under way mapping project. Spent too much time looking into the terrain and not enough time watching the trail - hence played a lot of rock soccer.

Run - Trail (Crandalls) 17:34 [3] 3.68 km (4:46 / km)

5:40am - 58F, cloudy & misty, rather nice for running - trails dry. Not really motivated to run hard in early part of run. Felt more energetic towards end of run from laurel thickets back to parking lot. [Jukola Spiders]

Tuesday May 16, 2000 #

Run - Trail (Crandalls) 17:53 [3] 3.68 km (4:52 / km)

5:45am - clear, cold - frost, muddy spots frozen - Sat blister healed up. Felt pretty good but slow on hills, a bit of exercise induced asthma towards end of run. [EQT Tridents]

Run - Trail (Crandalls) 17:00 [3] 3.68 km (4:37 / km)

4:40pm - sunny, high 60's, perfect running weather. A little stiff from this AM but loosened up on first hill. EI Asthma again, but not too bad until the end. [EQT Tridents]

Sunday May 14, 2000 #

Run - Trail (Crandalls) 18:43 [4] 3.68 km (5:05 / km)

6:45 AM, Sunny, cool, breezy. Blister on big toe still a nuisance from yesterday. Otherwise felt very good. [Jukola Spiders]

Run - Trail (Soapstone 1/2 Marathon) 2:28:34 [3] 22.5 km (6:36 / km)

8:00am - Soapstone 1/2 Marathon Course. After Angioplasty in April, this was the first day I was allowed to resume running since being diagnosed with CVD in early March. Planned on just running 5-6 km easy but got talked into doing the half marathon course and felt really good for about 11-11.5 miles, then basically ran out of steam. Walked for a few miles, skipped the final hill climb and ran down the road to the parking lot. But very happy with time / distance having not done anything in 2.5 months....
