Run - Trail (Crandalls) 40:00 [1] 4.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Mindbender

jogging around putting out directional signs for the fun run held in conjunction with the Striders Holiday party. And picking a few up afterwards.

Run - Trail long (Shenipsit E2E - 1st half) 4:46:10 [3] 36.3 km (7:53 / km) +850m 7:03 / km
shoes: old 285 Roclite A

Group of 12 at the start. gps 'moving time' was 4 hours. Major GI issues around 14km, then ran hard to regain the group a bit past Rt 140. Paid for that effort later with steadily declining pace past 25km. Good times, good friends...

Note
(rest day)

work followed by visit to folks for dinner. Thought about a bit of bike, but going long tomorrow before work - first half of Shenipsit End-2-End. Would have liked to do the full 48, hopefully next year.

Run - Road 1:02:00 [2] 7.69 km (8:04 / km)
shoes: old 285 Roclite A

Manchester Road Race w/ Jackson (his first). Low 30's and overcast at the start. Started way back down main street - gun went off at 10, we didn't take our first step toward the starting line until 6:23 - I'm usually out past the first mile by then. A slow walk/shuffle towards the line, finally getting across the start line a little more than 9 minutes into the 'race'.

Able to jog for the most part, though with roughly 13,000 people in front of us it was very difficult to find holes to worm through (race filled at 15,000 - I'm guessing a couple thousand were behind us). I don't know what today's winning time was, but we didn't even get to the first mile marker before I'm sure the winners were already in. Its a whole different event from the back of the pack.

Jackson wanted to try and best his mile time on one of the splits, but it certainly wasn't happening in the first mile, nor on the second with the hill. In reality we didn't get to run with anything resembling a natural stride until well past three miles. But no walking either - he ran the entire distance - estimated running time is about 54 minutes - and really enjoyed it - talking about going out for cross country next year at school. And maybe trying to run well enough to get a seed card for next year...

Run - Trail (Shenipsit North) 1:33:00 [3] 12.8 km (7:16 / km) +490m 6:06 / km
shoes: old 285 Roclite A

Ran before work to recheck the northern terminus and parking for next weekends Shenipsit Trail End 2 End run (of which I'm only doing a portion). Forest road gate still open (good), ran short stretch up to Old Country Rd where Shenipsit Trail used to terminate only to find the double horizontal blazes replaced by offset turn blazes. New trail - woohoo! Followed trail and quickly realized it was very new - fresh blazes, flagging ribbon still in trees and very little evidence of foot traffic - Very nicely routed for the most part and adds a good 3.5 miles. Got up to Greaves Rd (dirt) and ran out of blazes. Dirt road runs along another block of Shenipsit Forest but no other signs of marked trail - checked a couple options and finally ran into a resident who indicated they had just blazed up to that last phone pole last week. So apparently it will continue to be developed further but I don't know when or in which direction (presumably north towards the state line...)

A very fine run, not particularly energetic, but much more than I was planning on doing this AM - and glad to have done it...

GPS track when I get home - no mini-USB cable here at work...

1 PM

Run - Road (Shenipsit Lake) 1:02:41 [3] 12.0 km (5:13 / km)

light drizzle, not nearly as bad as I had feared since I've had a drought of over 2 weeks with no running at all.

2 PM

Run - Road (Hare & back) 22:56 [3] 4.7 km (4:53 / km)
shoes: old 285 Roclite A

Nice day, didn't feel like running, but felt I should. Sluggish, no energy in legs, back of legs sore. Kinda, sorta sucked - but I did it. Just one of those days...

Run - Trail (Weigold) 15:00 [1] 1.2 km (12:30 / km)
shoes: Mindbender

Quick stop to run a GPS track on a new trail at Weigold. Doesn't get too far from the main trail and makes some bogus turns etc - but I didn't design it, they just want me to update the trail map...
5 PM

Bike - Recumbent (trainer) 15:00 [3]

a few minutes in the basement before dinner
