After enduring Peter's poking fun at my increasing portliness yesterday (not undeserved btw) I figured I'd try and see if I can't forcibly carve some time out during the middle of the day. I frequently bring running stuff to work, but rarely manage to break away. But as Peter pointed out, its a matter of prioritizing and for health reasons alone, I really need to do this. And I've been averaging 9 hours or so a day at work (weekends not included) and contractually (on paper at least) I'm supposedly working 7 hours a day. So I guess there is room in there for me to get outside without real repurcussions. Planned on heading out at 10:30, actually got out at 11. So not too bad.

Not a lot of options around campus without a lot of roads, but the Shelter Falls park gives me some singletrack (exposed roots & rocks under leaves), some rutted jeep road and open fields and a minimum of tarmac. And a route I can easily do in under an hour.

And by winding my over behind Horsebarn Hill, I can get on the Nipmuck either northbound or southbound, although the stretch of trail along the river is pretty eroded and crappy running. But it something I guess..
