Run - Trail (Case Mtn) 2:20:00 [3] 19.0 km (7:22 / km) +630m 6:19 / km
weight:77.1kg shoes: Roclite 312gtx

Early AM run w/ Bruce and Mark. Started from Spring St at 5:30am in the dark, light but steady rain and temps chilly enough to debate how much clothing to wear. Mostly Shenipsit Trail S then down into Coups Sawmill, up along the power line, then back N paralleling Birch Mtn Rd back to Case, then carriage road almost to 384, a quarter mile of road then back on the Shenipsit Trail and others headed south again. I had a 9am Strider meeting to get to so we headed back to the cars, they refilled water bottles and headed out for another 90 minutes or so, and I headed on up to Somers. Despite the conditions, it was a great morning to be out - gloomy, misty woods & slippery leaf strewn trails requiring careful concentration. Halfway - 13 down, 12 to go, 13 days until Stonecat!!

Note to self: started new pair running contacts today - should be good through Stonecat at least.

Its looking likely that the Shenipsit Striders will dissolve at the end of the year. The Soapstone races will likely carry on under the guise of a different local club (mostly road focus), but due to lack of fresh members willing to step up and help run the club, it seems a merger into a larger running base is in order after 30 some odd years as a trail-focused running club. Sad to see it go, but sometimes you gotta make tough choices.
