Bike - Recumbent (SLR) 20:00 [3] 5.85 km (3:25 / km)
shoes: Slipstream

Tooling up and down SLR trying to get used to the clipless pedals. Getting out seems ok, but getting clipped in is still taking a minute or so until both get clipped. I've shimmed the cleats out, make sure the sole is clearing the pedal, still not terribly intuitive about where to place the foot to clip - I've tried direct, scraping foot forward and scraping foot backward. I can get the cleat to catch, but just won't engage. On hills this sucks because the time it takes fiddling with the pedal is time that I'm not actually putting much effort into the pedalling itself - so I damn sure better be in my bottom gear.

Rode for a while, then dumped it pretty hard when turning sharply and not unclipping before hand. Landed pretty hard on my left side drawing blood on my calf and forearm. Had I not been clipped in, I would have been able to put a foot down but no time to react while clipped. At least I was on the dirt road when I fell so its just picking sand out of my wounds rather than asphalt. All for today - I'll give the clipless another week or so but I had better see some improvement... :-(
