Bike - Recumbent (commute) 55:00 [3] 20.0 km (2:45 / km) +300m 2:33 / km

Nice morning to start back commuting (classes are over so no pressure to be there really early). A little frost on the lawn when I left, but quickly warmed myself up with a few hills. About 10 minutes slower than my usual time on this route last year. Time loss certainly on the hills. Whether getting back into riding shape will eliminate that loss or whether the bent is just going to be slower remains to be seen. But its nice to ride in the early AM so I really don't care about speed.

Put all my junk (work clothes) in one pannier (only have them on the front) and although it didn't affect handling while moving, as soon as I stopped and let go of the steering, the front wheel would flop hard left. Guess I'll just have to get used to it or go with two partial panniers.

late leaving work.Rt 44 > Brigham Tavern > Merrow > Broadway > Dunn > Mile Hill > East Street > SLR. Stopped off at sister in laws to catch the Channel 3 news, I missed it but we watched the tape. Not a bad editing job - I didn't look like a total moron...

The Merrow/Broadway/Mile Hill combination made for a good 200m +climb but it didn't seem too bad - the steepest sections were slow in the bottom gear, but I found myself gradually shifting up while still on the gentler uphill sections. A few weeks of regular hills should put me in fine shape. The flats and downhills for the most part felt rather brisk. May have to invest in a GPS for the bike....
