Rogaine race 12:12:00 [3]

Andrew and myself were a little ambitious with a 60km route, however we thought it would be doable. Our plotted route choice was a 3000point target.

Started off alright and headed north and then around the course in a clockwise direction picking up all the 100 pointers on the East side of map. Around the north part of the map we mis shot a 90 pointer and spent a bit of time finding it. From this point we did ok and by the 6hr mark we had reached about the 32km mark. We were starting to fall back in our pace and then darkness arrived.

In the dark we had to cut our course. It was too much. Took a while finding some of the controls and by about 8pm we were still about 8km away from the hash and had to try and leg it back in. Well...not much of a leg it back in. We followed the road in parts to help find the controls a little easier.

With 40 minutes remaining we were still about 2-3km away from the hash and got stuck naving to a 40 pointer on the way back in. We gave into this and had to make it in as fast as possible (15 minutes left on the clock) we obviously missed a road on the way and found ourselves not knowing exactly where we were. We just had to take a guess bearing and go through thickets and dense scrub to finally find a road. This road was not the one though and we discovered it was still 1.5 km short of the hash (5minutes remaining). Back to bush bashing and we finally found another road that ran past the W side of the hash

As we found the road we saw the light....what a good sight that was. We ran/fast walked as fast as we could to get back to the hash and came in 12 minutes late. Phew...not disqualified.

I estimate that we must have covered about 50-55km of walking by the time we had missed controls and corrected.

my feet are sore now with blisters and muscles a bit tight still...at least i did not get cramps in the night.

Ride to work with the fatty tyres on.

Good thing is that I have definetly got fitter since last year. I remember at points of the ride where I had time targets last year and even with the fatty tyres on today I was beating them by heaps :)

ride back to amanda's from work.

Had a bit of fun and a challenge as I chased down a roadie. Caught him, passed him, he caught me, passed me, I caught him, passed him....then he few past me down a hill and i could not catch him before he turned off. This was over about 8-9kms, so was happy with my effort.

River paddling 1:55:00 [4] 19.0 km (6:03 / km)
shoes: Spirit PRS Ski

Here's one of many long paddle sessions.

Paddled from freshwater bay to the train bridge at freo. Headed back. Made a drinks stop just before aquarama and kept going. Back along to chidley point where I paddled across to point walter and had some portage to get across it. Kept paddleing and then hugged the river coast last claremont and at the back of CCGS. Then back to freshwater bay.

Had a bit of fun with currents under the old freo bridge as a boat came towards me and causing me to almost fill up. I was going through the smaller bits of bridge and the current was crazy.

between CCGS and freshwater bay went as hard as I could. It hurt, but a good hurt...if you get what i mean.

Overall happy with the session!
