Orienteering 1:08:22 [3] 5.7 km (12:00 / km)

I re-ran Ken. Hanson's green course from last month at Umstead. I wanted to take different routes from what I did at the meet, but there ended up only being two legs where that made any sense; and I'm not sure that today's routes were that much better. One was certainly wetter, and involved crossing a creek mapped with a black border. I ran the course 14 minutes faster than I did at the meet, and felt way better than I did at Eno on Sunday. Umstead is really much more runner friendly than Eno.

I georeferenced the Eno River map and pre-ran next week's red course with my new bluetooth Bad Elf GPS tracker. For the most part, things lined-up pretty well, although there are a few 10-15m discrepancies that I would like to figure out. I'll need more data to confirm whether these things were mis-mapped, or if the gps is a bit off, or if the georeferencing is a bit off -- or a bit of each. I'll ask runners next week to send me their gps tracks to see what kind of consistent errors show up.

Absolutely brutal course, and I had to walk the last 4 controls. My lack of fitness is starting to impact my enjoyment, which means that I need to get in better shape. The planned Bubbagoat in November will maybe be twice as long. I'll need to figure out a design that reduces the climb. Otherwise, I fear that it could just be too hard.
