Orienteering 57:15 [4] *** 4.5 km (12:43 / km)

A very fun green course set by Mike. It is probably impossible to put an honest-to-goodness advanced course in this park because of its size and trail network. Probably most of the controls on this course could have been on an orange course -- there was frequently a catching feature behind the control. So this was a fun opportunity for practicing some precision orienteering without too much danger of getting seriously off-course. It was steeper and much more tiring than I expected, and Mike did a masterful job of squeezing an interesting, thoughtful, and challenging course into this small map.
I ran fairly cleanly until #18 which I seriously screwed-up. I had to attack it three times, even though on my first approach to it, I saw Bill Swift leaving it. All I had to do was go where he was coming from. But at that point, I had misinterpreted the map, and was mistakenly looking for a significant tree rather than a rootstock. So I stupidly continued north until I could see the parking lot.
