Orienteering 1:17:21 [4] *** 6.4 km (12:05 / km) +230m 10:15 / km
spiked:12/15c

Red course, WCOC local meet at Paugussett State Forest. The course uses mostly the technical part of the map. I have a good run, but slow. Feel yesterday's bluestone patio work and the heat. And the ongoing mental and emotional stress takes its toll in the middle. After #7 I suddenly start ruminating about everything else than navigating, a disoriented drift follows, with a parallel error leading to a parallel feature. At least I figure out the problem and relocate right away. A similar mistake down from #12. Just nobodoy home in my brain and of catching the extended trail unmapped trail a chew along the stream after almost doing a 90ยบ error. The course was good, I was not all there. But since racing is just a mere distraction from severe other problems, I am still happy to have done the race.

Running warm up/down 7:00 [3] 1.2 km (5:50 / km)

Warm up and cool down. Or at least pretending to do it.

Relax warm up/down 12:00 [1]

Have a stiff neck from I don't know what. Maybe holding up my head in the headrestless mini van seat. Stretch the neck and back, feels better soon.

Running 38:00 [3] 7.5 km (5:04 / km) +50m 4:54 / km

Easy run. Don't have any energy. Spent the day building a bluestone patio for a neighbor. Backyard looks good. My back feels not so good and the legs are tired.

Relax warm up/down 12:00 [1]

Make back feel better, stretch and relax the overused muscles. Feel much better. Being outside and working with my hands is good. Physical productivity is a good bounce back helper in times of pressure and unrest.

Intervals tempo 18:00 [4] 4.8 km (3:45 / km) +40m 3:36 / km

4 x times 2.30/3.00 min tempo runs plus a one mile tempo run. Play with the breathing, try to stay relaxed at high speed, running with a well centered body, everything easy and balanced. Not easy to do, since the tension naturally increases when running fast. I find the image of carrying a wooden box with a tiger in my upper body. No need to ask what this means.

Running 38:00 [3] 7.0 km (5:26 / km) +50m 5:14 / km

Run to river, between tempo runs. Good warm weather, fun for running. Few rabbits, few mosquitoes, few free floating icecream cones.

Relax 10:00 [3]

Rattle the wooden cage with the tiger. Or is it the tiger with the wooden cage? Don't know, it has gone already.

Things laugh
not smart
waiting to fall deep.

Orienteering 1:06:58 [3] **** 6.3 km (10:38 / km) +160m 9:26 / km

Map practice with Mario at Bushy Ridge. We do one of our favorite formats. One puts the map away and the other leads to a spot, where #1 has to relocate. Since Mario runs so fast, I don't have much time to remember what I see. Fun training.

Amazing wide fields of ferns, making me almost sorry for going through them. Glad it was not a garden, even though it looks like one.
One way back we found several patches of blue Iris, with a three count shaped intense blue flower. They flourish in the marsh soil.
Great run to realign the mind with nature & outside reality. We meet several big boulders, good steady friends out there, good to lean on and to get in touch with.

Sleeping rocks
there raw
wink through time.

Relax warm up/down 10:00 [1]

The daily ice melting procedure.

Run and come home. No comment.

Relax 10:00 [1]

Easing and breathing.

Running 1:02:20 [3] 11.0 km (5:40 / km) +110m 5:24 / km

Run the winter asphalt round.

Relax warm up/down 10:00 [1]

Just some things to ease hurt and pain.

Running 1:01:22 [3] 11.8 km (5:12 / km) +90m 5:01 / km

Island, 4x times almost tempo runs. Fine rosebush smells and a new fallen tree.

Relax warm up/down 10:00 [1]

Get quiet and breathe.
