Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 4.0 km (5:00 / km) +20m 4:53 / km
Good warm up, run in the woods until the legs move easy. The clouds pull up and I don't like it. Whatever, I can't control them, so I ignore them.
Think about getting a weaker lens for the left eye, so that I can read the map while seeing something in the neighborhood. It would be a great relief in the rain. If it is sunny, I can wear cool aerodynamic glasses.

The red course at Lime Hollow. The rain pulls up, makes things dark. The beginning goes ok, then I make a directional mistake and drift west, correct myself quickly on trail, start crossing the wrong swamp, finally bounce back and get to control with Tim Parson.
For the rest of the race I do ok, some squiggles, nothing major. The rain explodes into a car wash after #9. I run a different route, Tim goes another route. I chase John Goodwin somewhere ahead. Young legs, fast. I almost catch him at #10, he gets away. There are a lot of people out there now. I set the next runner as a target to go faster. Catch and pass some.
On the way to #14 John reappears, he must have messed up some place. Leaving the control, I can't see the map, the glassed are wet and fogged. Misread a wall as trail when I plan the route to #15, but this is no problem, I can read plenty other stuff once I get there.
A big swamp crossing on the way home makes sure that I am well treated with mud therapy. An ok run, had some good legs some times, without the rain trouble in the second half it would be faster and easier. A fun race. And I feel good, I have to say it.
