Riding 2:00:11 [3] 56.0 km (2:09 / km)

Went out to my first Tripleshot early morning ride. Got talked into it by Bam Bam and Louise. Rode there with Louise who was testing a new bike. Probably should have been concerned when they told me to go with a certain B group and then didn't come themselves... they rode C.

Probably shouldn't have gone to the ride already tired, but ended up getting dropped on Dallas just after King George Terrace. Solo effort didn't bother me too much sinc I'm supposed to be a triathlete. Another minor crash today, I wasn't involved, but perhaps I'm bad luck.

More Intro to racing at Western Speedway.

I should probably wear a HR monitor for this stuff it might be interesting.

2 X 15 lap group races, (avg 34.7 and 34.6km/h, max 43 and 44km/h)
1 X 1 lap sprint,
1 X 3 lap Kieren,
1 X 5 lap.

Was second guy and 3rd overall in most races, except the 5 lapper at the end. I think our lap counter miscounted the laps and I ended up going over the top with 2 laps remaining and flamed out before the finish. Think I was about 6th in last race.

Unfortunatley I also think I caused a crash today. We are racing on a small car racing oval. I was taking a pull at the front and we had all been consistently pulling off to the outside. At the end of my pull we had just started the back straightaway and hit the strong headwind. I pulled off to the right but I guess with the headwind and me slowing the group came up on me quickly and this girl was overlapped my rear wheel. She hit my wheel and went down behind me. Fortunately just a grazed elbow but I felt really bad. She thought it was her fault so at least she wasn't too mad at me.

Got some different opinions from the coaches about what I should have done, but collected a couple of nuggets.

1) Come off on the windward side. Even though we had all be coming off outside for all the races, we should come off towards the wind on the backstraight which would have been to the inside. Not sure any of us knew this as we are all beginners.
2) Accelerate at the end of my pull to create a bit of space, especially going into the wind. (of course this guy also told me to come off outside like I did).
