Hanging the White and some of the Orange course controls

The weather forecast threatened with rain but we didn't really get any, just some drizzle and a 3 min shower. Mike & I had a very nice day at the pavilion, enjoying the atmosphere. Lots of smiley faces. The fire was a hit.
Like one of the twin boys in Team Conor said when they were taking a break with some snacks and grilled hotdogs in between the White & Orange course: "this is like a Birthday party!" =)

We did run out of Green courses + control descriptions, but people were happily donating their maps for reuse and some agreed to do a special cut-off version of Red.
Apparently the SI-units are supposed to be synced and I didn't get those instructions, so had some trouble with negative splits once I was about to upload the results. Anyway we are so happy with the turnout and how everything else worked smoothly.

And while some folks came back from their course saying they had been cursing me on the uphills I figured I needed to put myself through what I had you do.. so collected the Red course controls in the correct order. Sergiy's time was incredible, can't believe his splits up the hill x3 to number 125. I had to walk.
Mike got the rest of the controls on his bike. He also picked up the water, but as I approached control 21 I saw he left me a cup full, awww!

Hanging most of the controls for tomorrow. Would like to run the Red course, will be a lot different than the way I hung the controls.. more hills, it will be a tough one! Lots of opportunities to cut off though.
Found that they had cut down trees since I was there a week ago, in the north end of the map. Had made an effort to avoid that kind of stuff.

Didn't see any ticks today. Used bug spray, didn't think that worked for ticks?

Met a guy from the Yale Forestry School at TYCO when I was printing the maps Thursday night and he seemed really interested in orienteering. We exchanged cards and he said if we have a flyer he'll post it at their school.
Also invited people from work and got a surprisingly positive response. And a club mate from OK Löftan (who lives in NYC) is coming tomorrow!

Been feeling tight and sore lately

orienteering 40:06 [1] 4.41 km (9:05 / km) +84m 8:18 / km

Turns out I had been bad at estimating distance.. once I put it into Ocad yesterday I had to remove quite a few controls & butterfly loops to keep the courses at reasonable lengths.
This outing was to check some adjustments.
