Note

Today both Mike and I woke up feeling sick. Stuffy nose & sore throat. Yuck.

bike (mtb) 49:36 [2] 13.6 km (3:39 / km) +117m 3:30 / km

Easy ride around the Racebrook Tract with Mike. Nice trails, wide, not too much stuff in the way (like roots & rocks), beautiful woods surrounding. Unfortunately a big stick flipped up and broke the derailleur hanger on my bike.

bike 1:00:09 [1] 19.62 km (3:04 / km) +132m 2:58 / km

Woke up with a sore throat.

From Westville to Brooksvale Park on the Farmington Canal Trail. One part of it was closed for construction so we had to go on busy route 10.

orienteering 23:52 [1] 1.86 km (12:52 / km) +54m 11:14 / km

Jogged the White course with Heather.

orienteering 51:50 [2] 4.4 km (11:47 / km) +141m 10:09 / km
spiked:3/9c

Green course. PT said I could try jogging and see how it feels. I figured woods running should be more gentle. And so I was jogging and trying to feel how everything felt. Definitely felt the best when I was of trails on leaves-covered ground, trails and stepping on rocks felt worse.
I didn't use a compass which wasn't working that well on this map (it's so confusing in some areas). Specially would have needed it going to 3, 7 & 8.

On my way to 7 I was moving along with the marsh on my left side, passed the trails and where the stonewall was on both sides of a trail, then I thought I passed the stream, got close to some stonewalls and patches of green and couldn't orientate. Just headed back out to the trail, went in one direction to find something on the map. Attacked that control from SW following that stonewall in the green(!)
Was going to step over the stonewall at one point, the stone I stepped on rolled away and I fell right on my left butt/hip, hit it on the rocks. Got really scared, thought that it might shift my bones while it all seems to be so fragile and sensitive. So stupid. Kept jogging to loosen it up though.
Left 7 in the wrong direction, was thrown off by the greens and probably by my fall. Stopped early for 9 and suspected I wasn't on the right trail.

FR 6.931 km (didn't remember to press lap at that many controls)

orienteering 29:27 [1] 1.87 km (15:43 / km) +40m 14:12 / km

Walked and picked up a few controls with Anne-Louise.

bike 50:23 [1] 18.42 km (2:44 / km) +78m 2:41 / km

Brooksvale Park to Westville. Made an early stop to eat at a BBQ place.

Pretty sore after the PT visit yesterday

zumba 1:00:00 [3]

Was going to go do Calla's class in Milford after work but Anne-Louise wanted to come so I looked up a Friday class in New Haven at zumba.com.
A studio on State St called The Fitness Haven, just having some kind of opening event with free classes this Saturday. $15 for one class, pretty expensive. Really fun class though. Two girls instructing, one in the front and one doing easier modifications. They both had dance backgrounds: jazz, ballet, hip hip and so on and you can tell in their style. Some tricky stuff but I like it like that! The studio wasn't optimal with the mirrors on the short end.
Anne-Louise really enjoyed it and she thought the instructor looked very much like Signe Søes.

run (elliptical) 10:00 [1]

Dark & rainy morning. Parked on Chapel St probably around 6.15, grabbed my stuff and the water bottle falls out. It rolls under the car. Sigh! I walk around to look if it rolled out on the other side. A lady walks up and says she can see it under the front of the car. She reaches for it with her umbrella. So nice of her! :-)

pilates 1:00:00 [2]

I skipped the leg circles with the left leg today (in the air, laying on your back) since that one has bothered me.
Rosalie is working her last day at Yale Oct 15 and will teach her last class here Oct 14, so four more classes!

Going back to see Karen the PT this afternoon.

Note

PT visit:

My hipbone alignment was off again. She fixed it with having me do scissors and push my knees together/apart while she was applying resistance.
She noticed a lot of spasm going on and we did a bunch of muscle relaxing positions.
When she pushed on the left side of the sacrum it was hurting. She had me laying on my belly, she held the left side and pushed on the right side of the sacrum, to twist it back(?) and after that it wasn't hurting as much.
She also used some ultra sound.

She believes the pain is coming from the SI-joint rather than from a disc.

run (elliptical) 10:00 [1]

Dark out leaving for the gym..

pilates 1:00:00 [2]

Back to pilates after 2 weeks. The ladies had missed me and were wondering where I had been :-)
Using a thicker mat felt good. There are still some exercises that feel slightly uncomfortable.

Found out that Rosalie (the teacher), while I was gone, interviewed for and accepted a position at University of Miami, bought a house down there and is starting Oct 15!! Wow!
There will be another pilates-teacher taking over so there should be no gap - but we will surely miss Rosalie!

bike 21:17 [1] 6.26 km (3:24 / km) +24m 3:20 / km

Went for a cruise around Westville. Mike wanted to get his blood flowing. And I got to try out my brand new bike shorts.
