Great theater at the Masters, and a fine outcome.

Went down to Ansonia (southern CT) for a WCOC local meet put on Becky, a chance to get a little time in the woods. First time O' in quite a while, couldn't remember which eye to put my contact in. :-)

Nice outing at a fine event, perfect weather for O', low 50s and dry. Energy was about what I expected (ie. none going uphill), navigation was a little sloppy, but I only fell twice and no damage done. Only one really bad control, got on the wrong ridge at 18 and lost 2 or 3 minutes.

Upcoming deadlines --

1. One more day a work. I think I have things under control.

2. One week to the Billygoat. Maps are about set to print, shirts are on the way, toilets are scheduled, permit is in hand. Still got to round up some controls. And put them out.

3. Eight weeks to the 50-miler. Right now I'm healthy. If it stays that way, the training will get done.

4. Summer orienteering? Nothing planned yet. Have to work on that.

5. Replacement for the Subaru? Who knows, but at some point I'm pushing my luck.

Checking out a few of the trails at Earl's Trails to look for anything new (nothing spotted) and to see if they had been raked yet or not. Some had, some not. Folks are just going to have to deal with it.

And, at least some of them (folks, not trails), maybe all of them if I'm feeling ornery, are going to have to sign a third waiver. Sign of the times.

Finished up listening to a Fresh Air interview with a woman who wrote a book about the human digestive system from A to Z, or more accurately from M to A. One of those interviews that could happily have gone on a lot longer.

Note: need a new battery for my heart monitor.

ahr:136 max:151 shoes: mizuno

Another day without any zip. Still better to get out and do something, though I'm guessing any orienteering I do this year will include a lot of walking.

Good ultra training anyway, though I think I need to get the mileage up to 6 or 7 a day to have a decent chance at the 50.

3 more days (the current plan is not working this weekend, need to start getting organized for the Billygoat).

road running 54:23 intensity: (41 @1) + (8:08 @2) + (45:34 @3) 6.17 mi (8:49 / mi) +171ft 8:35 / mi
ahr:136 max:150 shoes: mizuno

Roads in town plus the bike path. Pretty warm, felt like I was dying by halfway, so when I came to the couple of hills I just walked. That did good things for morale, so ran the last bit faster. Good ultra training I suppose.

Forgot to mention yesterday, first fall of the year. Clipped a rock, went down hard. But shoulders seem to have passed the test with flying colors. I would prefer not to test them any more, but I know that is impossible. So got to keep doing my exercises.
