2011 SA Middle Distance Championships: Barossa Range West
10:51 AM. Tanunda. Burned 396 calories.
Course: Middle 5.0 km 260 m
I was scared by the amount of climb there would be on this course, but after i got going there was only a couple of tough bits on the map and i felt better. Didn't really make too many stuff ups on the course but did lose some time. I lost a bit of time at #10 and #11 where i got gconfused at which outcrop i was looking at, turns out it was the wrong one i nboth cases. I flowed pretty well through the majority of the course but really felt my legs burning on the up hills. I ended up second behind Simon i think, and felt good to not be much more than 50% slower than his time - which is still embarrasing when you think about it.

Ferns Hilly Hill Run with Hills
12:10 PM. Eden Hills. Burned 536 calories.
Fern and I went out for a short bit of torture on Fern's favourite local run. I was worrying about snakes but there were heaps of magpies - unrelated? The worst bit was the up hills. now sipping Goulburn Valley Milk Chocolate Drink, mmmmm.

TO THE TAP! (and back)
6:43 PM. Belair NP. Burned 1326 calories.
This is a run i feel proud of. I somehow suggested that we run to the tap, and for some reason most people agreed. I quickly fell to the back of the pack as we hit the hill. But it was kinda cool back there since i got to see all the bright spots ahead with most people now wearing Ayup Lights. It was pretty spectacular. I was actually first to the tap too, as everyone else stopped short and i was the only one to touch the tap. I think Simon did too, but he was just playing with it to try and squeeze water out of it - still dry. The run back down was fast and i tried to let my legs just run, but i felt unstable on some of the downhill. All up a pretty fun night!
