Note

Quit my job! 2 weeks notice, then... well who knows. Hoping to get to Scotland/Europe for a few weeks to see my cousin get married, and then do the tour of friends.

Orienteering 1:11:30 [3]

COC Middle - I knew this was a hard map going in, so I took it slow. #1 was fine, #2 was iffy. #3 I went via #9 (unintentionally), did a 180', and was completely confused... the rest of the race wasn't much better. Didn't find #6, and gave up after I twisted my foot. Finished the course with few problems.

Orienteering 45:00 [3]

Control pick up. I was determined to find my #6. We went to #7 and attacked back as I did in the race. Ended up going too far, and had to come back. Thought I was reading the map carefully, but not enough... came over the hill and it wasn't there. Then Meg found it... disappointing. Rest of controls were fine. Just this one depression...

Orienteering 1:25:35 [3]

COC long - my best race of the weekend. Got confused to #1, so bailed on to the trail and took a couple of attempts to get it right. #2 was just super confusing, but I came across the control before I lost too much time. For the next couple of controls I went slow and steady, checking off features. By control #5 I had better flow, and was able to look further ahead and run faster... well as fast as you can in sand! Super map, gorgeous area, fun times!

Orienteering 30:41 [3]

COC Sprint. Wanted to take this one slow, but not that slow. Had some great controls where I just spiked them, but I had 3 major blow ups. Learned very quickly that you can't just run to the end of a path in the forest, not like urban-O! Fun map, little disappointed that I couldn't keep it together for 15 minutes!

Running 25:00 [3]

Went to pick up the car. Nice and breezy to start, but got really warm when the wind stopped. Felt OK.

Running 22:00 [3]

Dropped the car at the doctor's, then ran home in my new ixebugs!! Yes, they came today and I had to try them. Few strange looks as I tappa tappaed on small pavement sections, but there is a lot of grass boulevards in Burnaby. Not ideal first outing... They fit well, little blister on the right side of my left heel. Think my new socks are a little thick though. Sorry Meg, they're opal/poison - we're proper team mates now! Excited to try them out properly on Friday!
