warm up/down (walking) 10:00 [3]
shoes: black+blue

Late again, but was due in part to stop/go (or not go) roadwrorks.

Park Run (Greenway) 38:14 [3] 5.25 km (7:17 / km)
shoes: black+blue

Didn't go to briefing and was puzzled by change in Finish position. Partway through first lap the leaders came steaming past and in a very different place to usual. I didn't feel they were going incredibly fast and I didn't think I was going that slowly and then I had a funny feeling - maybe the course had changed... and maybe I'll be doing more than 2 loops. Not knowing, I decided I'd do the amount of laps that closest resembled my usual time. As it turned out it was 3 laps but in keeping with parkrun philosophy if a course is changed it can't be under 5km. rockman who was timing, during Finish chat time, learned that the extra distance was about 250m longer.
But I didn't know that, and when I saw my time I was rather disappointed as running conditions were perfect- overcast, cool with just a little breeze. So if it is indeed an extra 250m I did another PB - in my terms.

Note
(rest day)

Avoidance of exertion - to lick my skin specialist wounds.

Note

So my scream at yesterday's event was warranted. A house about 1 km (direct line) was struck by lightning causing quite a bit of damage. It is also within 1 km from our home.

gym class (Body Pump) 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: white puma

Feeling fairly much in control - really enjoyed the class except for the bit where I accidentally hit someone on the head with my bench.

Tough class - agreed. No sign of tightness in upper L calf - good news.

Park Series (Islington #1) 44:27 [4] 4.96 km (8:58 / km)
shoes: black+blue

Spitting on the way after a very hot day. Little drops became larger then despite the black sky the rain stopped. Thinking there might be ar wave of storms to come I decided to go out ASAP - wrong decision. I love running in the rain but since NYE when our modem blew up with me 1m away from it I'm still a bit freaky.
Great course from leepback, despite his concerns about NCC closing a bike path this morning which was a direct route between #7 and #8.
Started out, fleeing the swarms of mossies and a few spots of rain, then between #3 and #4 it really started to pelt and the lightning and thunder started. Today was a reinforcement as to why we print on waterproof paper!
Got soaked but loved it (mostly). Heading along the straight to pivot at #17 when the rain was starting to ease and hadn't been much lightning/thunder there was an almighty flash and crack - about 1 second apart and I let out a pretty big scream. Glenn D was a bit surprised and said "that's pretty intense" - I assumed he meant the atmospherics not the hysterics. Just a scream - no words. My cheek felt hot and I felt a tingle - maybe psychosomatic - not sure. Anyways after that finale and me being a bit unsteady on my feet, rain stopped and cleared by time I got in.
Nice courses, and a freebie Mini course within the park for community - got a few takers which was good, but anticipate the weather could have kept a few at home.

gym class (Body Pump) 1:00:00 [3]

Felt a little tight at the top of L calf - possibly the result of not enough stretching after yesterday's class in which i did dozens of box jumps - willingly.

gym class (Cross Trainer) 1:00:00 [4]
shoes: white puma

Missed class last week due to model train set play time, so didn't know Cory would be away at a half marathon somewhere. Chook took the class and my how she just slots in. Very good class - tough going and it seemed an age to get to 20 mins in but then all of a sudden it was pack up time and 30 mins later then stretch.
Just a bit worried however - having seen The Favourite last night - doing a lot of Bunny Hops both high and low was a bit unsettling.
