Spitting on the way after a very hot day. Little drops became larger then despite the black sky the rain stopped. Thinking there might be ar wave of storms to come I decided to go out ASAP - wrong decision. I love running in the rain but since NYE when our modem blew up with me 1m away from it I'm still a bit freaky.
Great course from leepback, despite his concerns about NCC closing a bike path this morning which was a direct route between #7 and #8.
Started out, fleeing the swarms of mossies and a few spots of rain, then between #3 and #4 it really started to pelt and the lightning and thunder started. Today was a reinforcement as to why we print on waterproof paper!
Got soaked but loved it (mostly). Heading along the straight to pivot at #17 when the rain was starting to ease and hadn't been much lightning/thunder there was an almighty flash and crack - about 1 second apart and I let out a pretty big scream. Glenn D was a bit surprised and said "that's pretty intense" - I assumed he meant the atmospherics not the hysterics. Just a scream - no words. My cheek felt hot and I felt a tingle - maybe psychosomatic - not sure. Anyways after that finale and me being a bit unsteady on my feet, rain stopped and cleared by time I got in.
Nice courses, and a freebie Mini course within the park for community - got a few takers which was good, but anticipate the weather could have kept a few at home.
