Went early (solo, unfortunately) to be there for a newcomer. However newcomer was extra early and I missed out by 5 minutes in doing the meet-and-greet. Still that allowed me to get out on my course early. Lovely weather - just a little bit of misty rain at times, right temp. Area didn't have much, if any, fallen stuff so it was a really nice area for running in as mostly open too. Decided to be conservative and dispel a few of the horrors from last event - which I did very satisfactorily.
Nice confidence building course from Roberts family - thanks a lot.
Nothing untoward and all nav was fine, just a little bit of drifting but all good. Pleased to be on my own from 4, but saw a few people from a distance on different courses until 11 which was my only muddle/befuddle control. A couple of extra earthwalls + junk made it very easy to make features fit. Picked up about 3 people on the way to the last 2 controls so that wasn't unusual.
Had a 0.4 Committee meeting afterwards with extras which was nice. What wasn't nice was the hour of great discomfort with back pain - small movements were absolute agony. Looking forward to massage tomorrow. This was a real puzzle - bits of it before I started, but nothing on the run (well walk) . Just changing clothes and putting on socks and taking off ankle tape was terrible. Got home, long shower and about an hour later back seemed to loosen up. I suspect it could be build up of lactic acid which I've had before - but from yesterday. Still nice day out.
