ride to the MNOC meet at Battle Creek in St. Paul with Biz and Tom. Had the wind at our backs, so seemed pretty easy. Tom broke a spoke, which caused a little detour to Grand Performance.

A decent effort. I felt like I was at redline for a bit too much of the race, but happy with the nav for the most part.

I opted for the low route to #1. I had to contend with a steep hill, but I think it worked out OK. My pants had some issues... I raced with my tri shorts under my O pants... and they kept falling down.

#2, I took the clearing down the hill and came around the lake a bit too far west. Had to reorient to the east.

#3 easy peasy
#4, I opted to go around the lake to the east, and ended up too far west coming up to what I thought was the control location.
#5, searched too low.
#6 easy peasy
#7 went around the lake to the east. Not sure if this was the best route. Thick and hard to judge distance. started searching too soon.
#8 Came out and drifted north on the path. realized I was off course, so stopped to tie my shoe and plan a route. Ended up with a pretty good run by linking trails and clearings.
#9 no issues
#10 a little east, but saw the control and didn't lose time
#11 pretty easy
#12 Thick crap. I am sure I lost time here. Hard to get out of 11, hard to get in to 12.
#13 got caught by Mr. Curtis and we traded off on the remaining controls.
#14 attacked from the trail
#15, went as far west as I could along the parking area and then attacked up the hill
#16 went west to the road and then north. easy peasy
#17 to #20 easy control locations, fast running, but really ran out of gas. Felt like a struggle, as it should.

Ride back from the MNOC meet. Wow, the wind was howling. Had to stop for some gelato... just to make it back. Did the afogato with creme brûlée. :-) Good to get out on the 29er.

The GearJunkie Challenge

Run to get our first destination clue. Seemed never ending. No idea if we were even headed in the correct direction... Found Amy and booked it back to GJ HQ.

Bike to the Harriet bandshell, then collected three clues. We lost the event at this stage. First to the bandshell, then off to the first location listed. If we would have reversed the two items listed first, we could have cut some distance. Locations were all easy to find as they were in my backyard, so to speak.

Bike back to GJ HQ to post a sweet pic of Dre and I on FB.

To Vertical Endeavors for some bouldering action.

Back to GJ HQ for a little scavenger hunt and a third place finish. Great fun and a nice charity fundraiser.
