Two Rivers 36 hour with Nicki Driscoll and Karyn Lowery DuLaney. Abby and Brent put together a fantastic course through some gorgeous areas of northern PA. Cold wet conditions made things interesting. With Nicki and I coming off of Oregon we had no intentions of racing hard/fast but we were nearly flawless on nav which was enough for the win. Nicki was spot on with lead nav and we worked really well together with me on backup. This cooperation really paid off on the two sections of the course that had both a primary topo map and a supplementary map. That and a clean section on the long night nav made the difference.

Note of advice for any adventure racers tempted to comment on how well your nav might be going in a race. Do NOT say anything until the race is over. I made this mistake, commenting on how well things were going, and less than five minutes later we had our only notable bobble that cost us about 30-40 minutes.

So no matter how well things might be going, keep your mouth shut!!!
