Trial half Iron Man on siargao island.

Started late as my boat guy didn't appear so had to change plans. Most of the swim was into the current so not that great speed.

Biked out to del Carmen and beyond until the concrete road stopped,uunfortunately just short of 45km so had to do a couple of loops. Mostly good cycle and had a couple of food breaks and drinking breaks since I lost my water bottle on the last triathlon.started to fade around 80km. Not a good sign for the run to come.

Seriously considered not doing the run as I felt already buggered. Had a cold shower. An iced coffee I prepared earlier. Begrudgingly put shoes on, new set of sunscreen and went out. Tried to do an out and back. But after 9km I somehow found myself in the city Centre. Bugger. Had serious overheating issues, lack of energy problems and serious foot pain which I've been putting up with for the last month but only do short runs.bacame a problem big time on this long "run" which had serious amounts of walking, breaks at the local sari sari store which I doused myself with cold water and purchased a fresh gatorade. Probably consumed about 3litres of fluid during the run. Only had 1 energy gel on the run. Found some lollies and an ice cream shop also at one found which I held mostly to try cool down. Due to my error in navigation the temptation to finish early was very strong considering how I was feeling. Decided pain today would be better than pain during the half Iron Man so pushed through. Stopping a few times to release cramped muscles and massage my foot. Completed it in the end! !!!!

Pretty sure I can make the 7 hour 30 cut off with transition times is a positive, and definitely need to fix my foot and do more running training
