Same area as 12/31. Parked at entrance and made my way to One Mile Trail, then Sentinal Point, Cascade, Catamount, One Mile again. Light snow, quiet/still, saw 3 sets of footprints but no people. My BB map had a control description sheet dtd September 25, 1977, an eternity ago. Yesterday was as brown and bare as could be; today wintry but short-lived, at least according to forecast. Re-familiarizing myself with the very NW part of BB.
Apropos -
"Every pine and fir and hemlock
Wore ermine too dear for an earl,
And the poorest twig on the elm-tree
Was ridged inch deep with pearl."
