Walking 50:51 [1] 1.82 mi (27:56 / mi) +13m 27:20 / mi

At Nottingcook, from WH parking along WH to a clearing from years past - marveled at the 'stuff' brought there incl 6-7 old T-poles. Met a young man with his dog and finally another sitting in a chair enjoying the sun, reading and writing in a spiral notebook. His being there was quite the surprise. I went that way to see what mischief, if any, had gone on there in recent past but times of target practice, trash dumping etc seem to gave gone by.

Kayaking on Kimball Pond with Janelle. Went CW, started gpx late - maybe 2 mi. total . Chilly, gray, got to beaver dam, the vegetation being minimal.

Orienteering 1:37:53 [2] 4.22 mi (23:12 / mi) +97m 21:39 / mi

Did the Sunday Brown X course from last October's NE champs. Walked it accurately enough. Lousy, need-to-replace shoes led me to slip way too much on the often steep slopes. Lots of mt laurel though not as much as Saturday's course. April-open woods made for good visibility when the mt laurel was at bay. I was overdressed, chilly in parking but soon too warm.

I had trouble finding the parking/start area thinking it was off 119 which was incorrect. The Garmin, fully charged, did not acquire satellites (did nothing other than turn on). I didn't trust my ability to find the splits on my Timex I'd more or less recorded so I literally wrote them with a pen I carried in my pocket. Probably threw away 9 or so minutes doing this as well as close to two going back to free up Willow who was dragging her leash which got caught twice.

Weightexercise workout 35:00 [1]

Planet Fitness return to routine.

Note

West Point weekend and back a few days, Boston marathon Patriots' Day Monday - two big events in past years and neither this year. Boston goes back to 1968 and West Point maybe '77 or '78. I'm quite sure my first map was Black Rock Forest and still have it. WP had a chance but for returning from Argentina just Wednesday around 3:45 (a 23 hour "process"). Then it would be one day pause and then a long Friday drive there. I certainly was not mentally prepared for that...miles and miles and at $4.30 or so/gallon. Maybe next year...maybe til I'm 80. I have a Norwegian friend of 40 years I met again in South America who laid out personal physical/athletic achievement goals for 5 year periods. Certainly the air gets thinner after 75 or 80 in US O. There's more inspiration at an O-Ringen than found anywhere in the western hemisphere. Just have to get there but can't definitely say that's me. Back to goals.

Walking 29:41 [1] 0.93 mi (31:55 / mi) +35m 28:34 / mi

Looking for bike jump which was "right there" and reminded of rabbits' warren of added mtb trails associated with Peasley subdivision. Spring 15 years ago it didn't exist.

Fine April morning - nice to be back to spring in NH, returning from a very different envt. Was curious about leaf-blown path coming back fm Great Hill. Must have been something Bob did. W's trying out a green carpet we came across.
