BHS track around 5:15p, lengthening shadows, chilly in the shade, track about 20% sun. Had warm up pants on when I got there. The house was 57-60F all day so chill was at work. Settled into 10x 200m, with 100m walk between, around 55" av. Last was 46", 22 & 24", legs turning as fast as they would go on this particular Saturday eve. Thought of the days when reasonable striding was good for a first 27-30" on the way to an 880.
Must have been a football game there this pm - there was enough discard on the field to suggest so.
The below came to mind:
"As shadows lengthen
Resolve must strengthen.
Or be lost
At whatever cost"
To Parsons & back thru woods to Stoney Brook around 4:45 with the 310. Tried hard to get it to be recognized by AP & now it seems I'll finally pursue Ken's expertise, as it's high time to upgrade from the 305. The list of stuff I take forever to get around to.... Added staining c. 35% of the house to the to do list --- to ensure I never get on top of things. Did one hill 5x to add to the mix. Wanted to get home to get some staining done before end of day.

Up Allen to WH, into shady, cool Nottingcook. Nearing PL, decided to go "straight N" - took an eternity to get to PL and then from PL to home on shaky DR. Woods ever so thick, much more so than 2006-7, 26' adventure. Best sighting was very fresh moose droppings but no moose. Had Pawtuckaway map in hand which I looked at on the road.
End of day, & too late, feeling cold in the house so jogged over to open Nottingcook PL when the 9.5 wouldn't start, the battery in need of cpr. I found receding warm sunshine, and managed 10x on the hill. As I was completing the last, I heard Beth's greeting - who had come to PL environs with M for their evening walk. We walked back to her car. I was glad enough for a ride home, but first we paused to listen to Writer's Almanac.
3 times around Stoney Brook block with O maps from '79 O-Ringen. Felt productive just staying nearby & did a small chore between laps. Gray day, seemed chilly w/o house heat.

Hecksher SP near Islip. Had planned on Connequot river SP only to find it closed Mon & Tu. A passing biker pointed out nearby Hecksher. Sort of a "surf & turf" jog. Two lovely NW-type days. Took ferry from Bridgeport yesterday, spent an hour or so at the Port Jeff library & now at the E. Islip PL. Spent night at Brad's - here for house closing & then home.
