Road running 30:43 [2] 2.25 mi (13:38 / mi) +31m 13:04 / mi

SloGo to Hyatt Regency in Boston, pulsating with people & activity. Icy walks from last night's snow. Lots of people out & about & working early, for me anyway . Several slips, no falls, had a moderately heavy pack. Morning sun setting the glass facades ablaze across the Commons & Public Garden.

Road running 31:52 intensity: (13:00 @1) + (18:52 @2) 2.25 mi (14:10 / mi) +27m 13:39 / mi

Back from city, more walking than this am - had extra weight in the form of 2 fat syllabi, canvas bag etc from the course. Was pretty mild at 6:15, warmer than NH. Many people near Tremont - not used to it! Snow has receded a lot in Charleston in particular. Long day, a lot to absorb.

City sights, 1 and 2.

Road running 24:16 [2] 2.06 mi (11:47 / mi) +4m 11:43 / mi

A look-see around Charleston shore, getting bearings to get to Boston CME tomorrow. Driving snow, eventually sticking. Still it was grimy spring in the city. Causeway St. in the North End was full of young people, eating-drinking establishments, old snow, gum & butts on the sidewalks, a slice of city indeed. Felt somewhat like a fish out of water. First jog of any sort in weeks.

Spent first part of day with Beth at the MFA on the Fenway. Just dented the exhibits - many interesting objets d'art as well as the spaces themselves.
Then made our way to Charleston to this place & Beth went home.

Skate skiing 20:00 [2]

Tried out TRT in the rain (c. 32F) on way to town & found it really good except for the rain, esp. heading into it. Also hard to see the groomed stripe under gray skies and with wet glasses. The rain had softened the surface of the untracked fields but overall it was a tad too soft & not as good as the groomed track, which was nicely smoothed by the precipitation. Poles left in car which helps a lot with improving technique.

First rain in months....

Weightexercise workout 50:00 [1]

Belated Y visit. Weight room almost empty, easy parking as well.

Met Beth at Gibson's after with a book signing going on so we took in some of that. Had never seen so many in the store at one time.

Skate skiing 55:00 [3]

At TRT around 11a, 34F - went looking for good crust & found it but also on the rough side. There was a large groomed oval that was excellent: 1/2" soft top over a firm base.

Note

Glad to have a busy period behind. Town meeting last night, CYC dinner here tonight as well as two days at work. I find town meetings interesting (fun to see all those unfamiliar faces who share the same locality) and good, as well as occasionally rancorous commentary. Left at 10 after three hours and voting on all-important article 3 (of 30). CYC dinners are fun but hosting, even every 18 or so months, is more of a challenge than, say, 10 years ago.
Maybe an "unobstructed" view now.

Skate skiing 30:00 [3]

TRT around noon, sluggish surface although it was quite hard and smooth - so much used.

Went to BHS around 8:30 to see if crust was hard enough - almost though.

Got to 50F - saw one person running in shorts, another kid going to school early in shorts.

Probably the longest time ever I've gone in a winter w/o running of any kind.
Just haven't been interested.
