Note
I woke up really struggling with motivation today because of all the uncertainty at the moment.
So based on everyone's great comments, I've formed a tentative plan with a little bit of everything that makes me feel pretty excited.
I'm going to focus on two races:
-The 2008 US Team Trial Men's Middle at Hickory Run
-The 1993 WOC Men's Short Distance Course
I'm also considering the 2012 NAOC Men's Middle, but the land access issue there makes it trickier.
The goal is to get as close as possible to a "perfect race" for me for those two courses. I'm not sure what a perfect race would look like. So that's why it seems like a good goal for me.
I'm considering multiple phases to this, with the first phase aiming to keep my heart rate within a certain range and the next phase focusing solely on racing.
I've also signed up for the Barkley Fall Classic 50k wait-list. It seems like a bit of long shot that I'd get in. But I'm also pretty confident I'd be able to race it quite well, and it could be a lead-in to a future Barkelys attempt.
Also, if the situation permits it, I would love to host the Unofficial US Karttapullautin Champs in the summer. Only three course levels. No flags, just GPS punching. But beautiful forests and good friends : )
