After going through it, it appears that my major mistakes (not counting time that could be lost to slow route choices) were due to getting stuck in green and letting myself be pushed off my bearing. I'll need to get back to practicing assertiveness through green.

Really happy with how well I executed 19-20. I took 10 or 12 seconds after punching 19 to read the entire leg, assess my options, and then I flew through it since I knew exactly what I had to do. Yeah, that was good.

So mixed results this weekend.

Surprise, surprise, when I'm coming off a break, I'm not in my best shape. That's fine by me. This championship was scheduled after I had already set my training cycles and I really needed a break after this summer.

Positive stuff to take away:

-First time actually in Indiana and Michigan.
-First time orienteering in Indiana and Michigan.
-Finally got to orienteer in SMOC terrain which I've been wanting to get into for a while now.
-Had loads of fun and got to connect with some juniors I don't see too often.

Thanks to everyone involved in organizing!

I'll post maps and some summaries in a bit. But first I've got to focus on getting back home and putting the final touches on the Harriman O-Fest!

I've also scheduled a trip for the second week of November to Canada to visit a Spanish friend who's been living in Toronto. This will be my last trip this year to disconnect from orienteering before we jump into the coming season. Wooooo!
