Note

Very fun weekend with great food and company and training/racing the whole way through. Big thanks to all concerned! Nice to see Marek and Peter coming up for Saturday's O and Todd coming to Sessions Woods. I'm not sure what chenritzo was doing letting Todd beat her...

And I didn't have to drive home, oh the luxury!

I wonder does Google appreciate being associated with these fun and games: Pics (many due to Balter).

orienteering 42:56 intensity: (15 @1) + (40 @2) + (7:17 @3) + (33:29 @4) + (1:15 @5) 6.9 km (6:13 / km)
ahr:173 max:187

WCOC Sessions Woods.

Getting closer to real orienteering, still not fast enough nor quite smooth enough, and fairly trounced by Ali and Brendan. Fun stuff, and brief encounters with lots of good people I don't see enough of.

Edit - I lost a fair bit of time on each long leg. Maybe I should train or something. On 6 I did actually lose 20-30s through loss of contact and weaving and whatnot, and Brendan was a minute ahead on this leg. Ouch.

orienteering 17:33 intensity: (8 @1) + (37 @2) + (3:45 @3) + (13:03 @4) 2.56 km (6:51 / km)

orienteering 23:10 intensity: (13 @1) + (33 @2) + (4:44 @3) + (17:04 @4) + (36 @5) 3.52 km (6:35 / km)

orienteering race 21:14 intensity: (13 @1) + (6 @2) + (58 @3) + (9:01 @4) + (10:56 @5) 3.59 km (5:55 / km)
ahr:183 max:198

Cemetery Hill, Northampton, chasing start.

This was a whole lot of fun with route choices galore, and I got most of them right, just 14(?) where straight was better, and a wee error on 9 crossing the gully, but that was more lack of map-reading than route-choice.

Again, orienteering well but not really running at race pace, although holding off Giacomo at the end required some proper effort - another 50m and I'd have broken 200 bpm.

Thanks a mill' to Phil for a great set of races and a lot of fun orienteering, and to Giovanni and Giacomo for competition.

Oh, and this was my first time seeing the NEOC local event results set-up. Big fan!
6 PM

orienteering 48:16 intensity: (14 @1) + (4:46 @2) + (23:23 @3) + (19:53 @4) 5.6 km (8:37 / km)
ahr:165 max:180

Mt Tom renegade nighto - didn't really read the map enough to justify calling this orienteering. Pretty disgraceful showing on my part, all over the place. Oh well.

running 15:00 [2]

to loosen up the legs before the weekend... itb is a little tight...

... a modicum of strength and stretching afterwards.

Because that hill clearly needs big FO slabs of concrete stuck on top of it.

climbing 1:00 [3]

Failed the 5.6 again, although did make it past the nasty bit before dying.

Next go was a 5.5 warm-up followed by a 5.8 on the same rope, except I got stuck at the top of the 5.5 for a while and got tired, the 5.8 was slight overhang for a while so I just went halfway and bailed.

Then actually did a 5.8 and a 5.9-, the latter requiring much coaching and taking.

And failed to go for a run again today, partly because I forgot to pack running shoes...

But I did send some emails. Hohum.

climbing 1:00 [3]

I was a bit spaced, well, maybe very spaced, all evening; hard to focus, need more sleep.

Got up a 5.7 and an easy 5.7+ and failed the 5.6 again. Damn overhang. Fun all the same.

Note

Found a towel hanging in my anti-pantry. I'd swear it must be Ali that forgot it except it wasn't. Bizarre
