US Classic Champs Day 1
Moreau Lake State Park
upstate NY

Wonderful terrain, such a pleasure to run through.

Ran well, have to analyse the mistakes later, but there was a biggish one at 7, and a couple of bobbles, less than two minutes total I guess. Impressed with Ross' time. Surprised there was only Sergei Z between us.

Wasn't tired at the finish, but had a reasonable AHR. Still have to run a race with it up closer to 190 again.

Good times!

Garmin distance, 9.3km!? It lost reception a bit before the end, right near the ginormous unmapped cliff.

Note

Interesting story from Radiolab about animals sleeping one hemisphere at a time. Too cool.

and ex bike,
while entertaining myself with Oxford quantum physics lectures courtesy of itunes u.
Nice to delve a bit deeper than wonderful radiolab for a change. The mathematics, up to lecture two at least, is straightforward. The physics, on the other hand, is physics.

Night-O on Westmoreland Sanctuary

Thanks to Boris for giving me the map. He apparently ran the course in 39, very feasible I think. Very nice woods, although not insanely technical.

Fun training, a bit under 30mins from work (probably 20 with a better route) and 20-25 home after.

Weather was lovely again today, pity I was only out in the sun at lunch. Thunder and lightning has arrived now.

forest run 1:06:30 [3]

Seven minutes away from the flat is Silver Lake Preserve, with it seems a decent amount of running, on- and off-trail, to be done. Lots of the local rocks and small hills too, would be nice to have it mapped...

Note

I watched Waiting for Superman yesterday. Didn't feel like I learnt anything apart from, maybe, that the American school system is a partial disaster. But then, I read Free Schools by Kozol years ago. I suppose the film may, just may, have some positive effect.

life is getting complicated.

He's playing Boston on the 21st, just before the US Champs, but but but I'm signed up to go to a conf in NYC the 21st and 22nd (and in theory 23rd).
