Trail Run intervals 48:22 intensity: (1:33 @1) + (7:01 @2) + (31:00 @3) + (8:48 @4) ** 4.62 mi (10:28 / mi) +259m 8:55 / mi
ahr:136 max:158 shoes: NB 874

Hill intervals at Pittsfield SF. 6 x 90sec hard with 60sec recovery. Ran the Turner Trail, which is a fairly new twisty mountain bike trail with a fairly constant grade (9 - 10%). The intervals got me just about to where it flattens out. Ran a bit further up top and then had fun running back down. Trail was in very good shape, considering how much rain we've had. Temps in the 60's and humid.

Erging 15:00 [3]

Rainy outside and legs still a bit sore from Sunday, so opted for some inside fun (?). ~3.5 km total. 1000m splits: 4:22, 4:13, 4:15.

Treadmill 25:00 [3] 2.25 mi (11:07 / mi)
shoes: NB878 - #10

Walked for a while, then picked it up to a jog/run pace. Helped loosen the legs up.

Orienteering race 2:28:12 [4] *** 16.75 km (8:51 / km) +397m 7:55 / km
35c shoes: Black Jalas

Billygoat at Huntington SP. A good course set by Joe B in some very nice terrain. More controls than typical for a Billygoat and a double butterfly loop for variety. No forked control. A wet day with some occasional light rain during the run but temperatures near 60, so good for running.

Reasonably satisfied with my race, but spent a lot of time using others for guidance (i.e. following). With a rather large group including PG, tp, Tony Muffati and many others through 13. Skipped 14 and was alone to 15, then picked up one of the Hungarians on the way to 16. Alone to 17, then Tony caught up having skipped 16. Jeremy Colgan appeared periodically, moving faster but also traveling further due to his navigational style. With Tony (more or less) to the aid station and Peter also caught up on that leg (he also skipped 16). In a group with Peter around the first butterfly loop but lost that bunch when I stopped to eat at the tent. Alone for 24 - 27, with Giovanni passing me on the way to 26. Somehow caught up with Tony on the way into 28. I heard chatter behind and just before punching at 28 looked to see a huge group catching up (much of the group I left when I skipped 14). I was beginning to fade a bit, so I promptly dropped about 12 places between 28 and 29. Lost the group on the way to 30, and was on my own more or less until the end. Almost caught by Jeremy at 32 (my control!) but he veered off just as I spotted it. Long trail run to 33, approaching it from the south for easy navigation. Tried to keep the pace up so Jeremy wouldn't catch me but made sure I navigated accurately, especially for 34 and 35. Managed to maintain a jog up the finish chute. Another Billygoat in the books and another shirt for the pile (#17). Pretty sure I'll get a shirt next year since I signed up to be Head Goat.

Easy run at Hand Hollow Cons Area. Low 60's, overcast. Lots of geese.
