Mountain Biking race (MBTO Pickering Brook L) 2:14:27 [4] 33.73 km (15.1 kph) +406m

My mind wasn't in race mode and I didn't feel like racing today so banked on having a smooth and efficient run which for the most part I achieved, making for an enjoyable day. Securing my map board on with cable ties was a breakthrough as it was much more solid my reading ability improved much.
Mostly all smooth at the start. A small overshoot to 1 where I missed a left to a parallel track. Looking at the splits I must have started out fairly slowly to the first two controls as I was 2-3mins of the pace on both. Thereafter kept in the mix and had my best leg from 7-8, the big one, only 1 min slower than Ricky, due to a better route choice.
All good to 10 but then left towards 12 and nearly got there before realising I needed to backtrack back to 11. Then back to 12 was still a bit slow on the splits. 13, 14, 15 were good.
Up to 16 I almost went straight to the control but doubted my position and went and found 18 first to figure out where I was, and then came back too fast and overshot the turn off to 16 again. I might have been 5-6mins better off if I had found 16 straight away. 19 was quick and to the finish fine.
A very enjoyable course and day to be out there.
