Running 1:09:13 [1] 11.31 km (6:07 / km)

Gentle run down in the valley. It was mega cold this morning so I didn't go up skiing, plus just wanted to chill in the city after a bad week. Day turned warm so was just below freezing by the time I ran.

Note: let's see if the Bob Miller chat on the Adventure Racing side of this has any cross-over interest?

Running 45:00 [2]

River run, lots of snow, surprised the Don trail isn't cleared.

Note

Awesome Fischer video here with Frida Karlsson and the Thomas Wassberg.

Great lines here that could be said by a random DGL Swede:

Cross-country skiing is exhausting
Pain is a challenge. You have to overcome. You have to like it.
I am a very attractive Swede, however here is me looking absolutely disgusting at the end of a crazy hard race.

Note

While this might get XC skiing onto SportsCentre, brutal move by the Russian:

11 AM

Cross-country skiing 1:17:56 [3] 13.18 km (5:55 / km)

Horseshoe Day! Drove up to get out of TO and was a great day skiing on some of the trails I grew-up skiing on. Had to buy ski pass in advance (over $35 which is a lot!).

Waxing was easy: used very old training wax of Swix Green Extra (or Blue Special), neither of whic hare used anymore. Had good grip, was an easy day for wax.

Skied the North section first, could not really remember any of the trails other than there are some steep hills! Some of the downhills are pretty crazy fast, I would not want to bail on them.

Grooming was pretty good, although you could tell that it wasn't done by people that ski much. But not bad!
1 PM

Cross-country skiing 57:46 [3] 10.03 km (5:46 / km)

More classic: the West section (or the Medonte trails if you're old like me).

Super fun trails, these are the big grinding hills that I remember and some of the most open woods from NAOC in the 90s.
2 PM

Cross-country skiing 1:04:41 [3] 11.66 km (5:33 / km)

Time to skate! Decided to switch as the trails are way better for skating than I remember. Fun width of trails, not too big but wide enough to pass people. Horseshoes seems to only have inexperienced skiers so passing people was tricky today.
