Running 45:00 [2]

Busy this week with visit from the DM of Foreign Affairs (aka, Kathleen Edward's father) on Wed followed by my trip to Alaska and Seattle.

Tuesday features one of the few times I'll get paid to watch tv.

Cross-country skiing (skating) 1:00:00 [1]

Skiing around the trails watching the Alberta Cup skate race. The men did 15km including 3 times up Esso Hill. 3 juniors swept the podium for the men.

The chief of course was very hard-core in terms of keeping people off the course during the race, a little too intense. It's an Alberta Cup, not a WC. Actually, there's probably more countries skiing here than Whistler.

Race conditions: Perfect. Just above freezing, good solid snow, good grooming.

Some dudes skiing in short sleeves. Totally not warm enough for that and not a good look.

Orienteering Race race 36:02 [4] *** 4.8 km (7:30 / km)
spiked:11/14c

EOOC were putting on Winter Fun 2009 which consisted of a sprint race (more of a middle) on the U of A campus to help with people doing a Sport Ident clinic. Was forced to sign up as a member of EOOC to run, so I guess I'm a member, although not sure who I'll race for. Evidently Marilyn did not tell me to join Foothills in her last email like I thought.

Course went down into the river valley and that section was tough in the snow. Map was 1:5000 and the area still has the potential to be top-notch area.

I know the campus just well enough to know that trying short-cuts probably won't work. Example, I knew there was a control on the Butterdome, but didn't know how to get there.

Felt toast from all the sun.
