Running warm up/down 40:00 [1]

Warming up and cooling down at the Butterdome. The most stressful running of laps I've ever done as the entire track and building is full of athletes. Most tracks you stick to late 8 and you'll be fine, but not here because sprinters and long jumpers are working away out there. Just a crazy busy feeling to the place.

Running intervals 15:00 [5]

First workout with the Edmonton Thunder www.edmontonthunder.com
and man do I feel weak and slow. I arrived and found out that the distance group (1500m and up, mostly 3km, 5km and 10km runners) were heading outside in -cold weather to do tempo runs, so I stayed indoors and ran with the 8/15 group.

Did a series of 400m and some 300m, trying to work on quality rather than quantity. The goal will be to improve my strength/speed with the 400 and then move up to 600 and 1km with the eventual goal to move from the 8/15 group up to the longer distance group.

Fun to be back on the track. Not fun to be feeling slow and weak.

Cross-country skiing (classic) 1:00:00 [2]

First classic ski of the year and my feet were killing me. I think I really should replace my classic boots, which I've had problems with ever since I bought them from Lee Churchill years ago.

I found out I left klister on a pair of classic skis and and used them. Worked pretty well since we haven't had new snow in ages.

My technique felt pretty poor, too much shuffling, not enough gliding.
