Running 40:00 [2]

Long rough day.

But nice and sunny and could break out the capris that made me feel a bit faster.

If this keeps up will be able to start biking soon.

Running 38:00 [2]

Nice morning run, gloomy day and light rain, but wasn't coming down too hard. Ran to Hull, past the Museum, over to Ottawa, past Parl Hill, Chateau and the Art Gallery.
Switched to the new pair of shoes I've been storing away as I'm nervous about all the pavement I'm running on.

Running 45:00 [1]

Run out on Sussex.

Friday Mar 27, 2020 #

Running 46:00 [2]

Ran to Hull, past the Museum of History, over the far bridge and back on Wellington past Parl and then Majors Hill Park, Nat Gallery and home. Lovely day with sun, although other than a walk around the block before the meetings started, didn't get out.

What a past couple of weeks. This is really rough.

Cross-country skiing 1:23:19 [3] 17.78 km (4:41 / km)

Well that was deadly fun!

At P7 ran into a few skiers (Andre, Steffan, Elle, Seb Towsend) so started out with them, skiing a decent distance apart. They were going crust skiing so went with them onto one off Ridge. Then back on Ridge for a ways, past Champlain, back via Burma and home.

Awesome conditions, still so much snow. Skis could really use waxing and hopefully I can find the liquid wax I have somewhere.

Cross-country skiing 1:30:00 [3]

Oh man, super fun morning of skiing! Drove all the way to Old Chelsea when I realized I had forgotten my boots. Back to town, grab them, parked at P9 and had to hammer up Fortune Parkway to find Nicky and Lampi.

The parc was full of super fast skiers, including a CDN nat team guy skiing with a girl with a SWE national team jacket. They were fast.

Awesome conditions, still on good skis.

Running 50:00 [1]

Run along the river with Farley

Running 45:00 [1]

Man, don't know what it was, but probably the sitting at home on the computer drinking coffee and tea all day but I was mega toast this whole run. Super lame.

Cross-country skiing 1:15:00 [3]

Ski from P7. Up Ridge and then around the Fortune Racing Trails which were really well groomed and in great shape. However, they are still very very hard. Especially the uphills. After suffering around them, out and back on Ridge.

17 deg on Friday so need to get more skiing in! Actually potential low of -12 on Friday so who knows what we'll be getting.

Tuesday Mar 17, 2020 #

Running 45:00 [1]

Morning run with Farley.

Monday Mar 16, 2020 #

Cross-country skiing 1:15:00 [2]

Fun ski from P7, was colder than I had dressed for! Hard packed conditions, great skating.

Cross-country skiing 1:05:00 [3]

Skiing at Gai-Luron https://skigailuron.ca/en/ in Saint-Jérôme about 45 north of Montreal. Awesome old school ski centre and site of the 1990 Eastern Canadian Orienteering Champs by Viking! they still have not 1 but 2 O maps on the walls of the chalet. They recommended blue extra but no way that would have worked with so much ice in the snow, so went with Rode Violet as that's as warm as I had. Wasn't too bad in the shade, pretty slick in the sun as it was super glazed.

Woods still look great. So much of the giant 1:15,000 map has been developed by could still do a good Middle or Relay in there, similar to Canmore the big trails make it confusing.

Would need a good negotiator to deal with owners. I can't remember what Pierre Brassard and I did when we organized a Viking event there in mid-2000s.

Running 35:00 [1]

Felt super dead, blah run.

Running 35:00 [1]

Run. It was wet

Sunday Mar 8, 2020 #

Cross-country skiing 1:00:00 [3]

Well this could have been better. Didn't get out skiing until the afternoon and by then the +6 hit and the snow was very very slow. Serious workout but not fun skiing.

Saturday Mar 7, 2020 #

Cross-country skiing 2:10:00 [2]

Man, just an awesome morning for a ski. Joined Karl and Megan, Karl went ahead and did a hard ski and I skied with Megan. Violet wax as the snow was warming up, pretty decent grip. I'm probably too heavy for these skis now or they are just softening up (or combo).

Canadian Mens Relay was just 2nd at World Juniors in the 4x5km!

Farley run. Way better footing with colder temp.

Thursday Mar 5, 2020 #

Running 45:00 [1]

Run with Farley, over to Hull and around.

Bit scary when we came to someone walking their dog and turned out to be a pit bull! Of course Farley growled at it, good thing owner was holding on tight.

Wednesday Mar 4, 2020 #

Running 45:00 [1]

Really sloppy run with Farley.

Cross-country skiing 2:00:00 [1]

Just needed to do a long classic ski today rather than the ski-o at Nakkertok.

Amazing day of skiing.
Double pole felt better than it ever has since like high school with the old technique.
