Running race 1:42:56 [5]

National Capital Half Marathon.

Was feeling very very bad in the morning, but ran two retired superstars I was running with (Michaela McClure and Francine Darroche) kept it super slow off the start and we ran at chatting pace for over the first 10km. We all had an porta-potty break and I took forever getting out and lost them.

Second half of the race was me battling with reality, mostly to a draw. Felt ok at times (Colonel By, massive crowds) and less good other place (all of Hull).

Ending up finishing right behind Megan Mactavish. I figure 1:43 on zero training means I should be able to get under 1:30 if it was an actual goal.

But nothing about the day made me want to run a full 42km. My god that's a long way.

Running 40:00 [1]

Run with Freddy from Old Chelsea in the afternoon. Very gentle.

Managed to go to the Great Glebe Garage Sale in the morning without buying very much stuff. Bought a framed Goya poster for $2 which I was very impressed with, until half-way home and realized it's GĂ©ricault who I really like.

Watched the start and finish of the 10km, saw Eric Gillis looking good, finished 10th in a pretty deep mens field.

Running 45:00 [1]

Run that felt just awful along the river after dropping off my car for a tune-up.

Long days this week at work, zapping energy.

Running 1:00:00 [4]

XC Zone run, 3 loops from near Champlain Look-Out. Felt as fine as could be expected.

I have been Orienteering my entire life and I don't think I've ever seen the life sucked out of a conversation about a fun set of races as the dudes going on about mapping standards. I love how Hammer was told that he should start a new thread about say, athletic performance.

Running 45:00 [1]

Afternoon run with Freddy on the way back from Wakefield.

About 2 minutes into this I knew it wasn't a good idea and was just toast throughout.

Note

This would obviously not go over very well in Ottawa:

Running 45:00 [1]

Wee run after work. Crazy week almost over.

Running 45:00 [2]

Getting out of the fog. Run with Francine along the river, it was warm and legs felt like crap. The Half is going to hurt!

Note

This looks like an interesting team / aspiring male models:

I think coached by Alain Masson.

Their performance will greatly depend, I imagine, their ability to survive travel as well as where the big races are this year. I wonder if it would make sense to have an "away" home like the National Team I think has in Europe.
