Cross-country skiing (classic) 2:00:00 [1]

Classic ski from P7 with KillerK. No energy for the most part, but every now and then my technique would fall into place.

I don't think a 50km race is wise.

Cross-country skiing (skating) 1:30:00 [1]

The morning ski turned into a mid-afternoon one, but went with 6'B and she was pretty good. Nice temperature and enough snow to use the RCS.

P7 along Ridge.

Run by the river after work.

Running 45:00 [1]

Run after work to clear my head.

So, sounds like my awesome housing is going to come to an end and suddenly I have to find another place to live.

I hate looking for a place to live.

Running 45:00 [1]

First run in a bit and mostly an excuse to go out and clear the lungs.

So, what sports look the best at Best of Banff style events?

http://www.banffcentre.ca/mountainfestival/worldto...

Rank or vote:
1) Mountain Biking (name your style but North Shore stuff always looks extra deadly)
2) Climbing
3) Kayaking/canoe
4) Alpine ski and snowboard
5) Other recreational pursuits

Note

Finally feeling better.

Went to the Best of the Banff Mountain Film Fest at the Bytowne. Pretty solid collection of films, go see it. The long doc was about 2 dudes who kayaked from Australia to NZ.

I spoke with the organizer from Banff Arts Centre and she's been there for 10 years and had never heard of a film about Orienteering being submitted. And she sort of knew of the sport.

Hmmm, a good O short (ie. less than 15 minutes). I think it would make the festival, but it would have to be done right. It would have to show off Orienteering incredibly well.

But, there was a scene featuring Orienteering for a split second during the sponsors section at the beginning. Can anyone guess the brand and where the event might be?

Note
(sick)

Still sick.

Good news: Some work leads with Environment Canada

Good/bad news: The Pixies are touring again, but Ottawa show might have instantly sold out? Hopefully just the advanced tickets.

Great news: the Jays traded Vernon Wells' contract to the Angels (Vernon Wells also included in the deal).

It's really cold here. I'm going back to bed.

Note
(sick)

Day one of a cold (or flu). Need lots of sleep and hope this goes away quick.

Crazy good deals to fly to Europe right now. Especially to Sweden in March.

Running 55:00 [2]

Lovely run down by the Rideau River in a great snow storm.

I would rather go skiing, but too much reading for work to do tonight.

Cross-country skiing 1:45:00 [1]

Classic ski with the new boots (and Nicky). Along Ridge from P7 to Western and back.

Had to resist the urge to snap at the cute French smoking Desmis girl manning the fort at P7 for not having Ridge groomed. I suppose the ski community just needs to lower our expectations of what we can expect for conditions. Some of her comments:
-The Park is big
-Demsis only has 2 (?) groomers and thus can't be expected to cover very much.
-New snow is hard
-LaFleur had the contract for many years and were very good at their job and Demsis should not be held up to their standard.

I really want to buy a trail pass, but I'd also like service for my money.

Running 1:00:00 [3]

Should have gone skiing, but only had time to run today. This was mega hard with all the new snow.

MEC does some stuff I'm not a big fan of, but their guarantee is impossible to beat. They reimbursed the cost of fixing my broken tele bindings at Tremblant no questions asked.

Cross-country skiing 1:00:00 [1]

A quick apres work ski on the Doldrums with Randle Patrick McMurphy. Conditions were pretty slick so I tried to do more double polling to work on upper body than just hammer.

I have a pair of ancient Madshus skate skis that are 200cm with NNN bindings. Anyone tall, skinny and in need of rocks skis?

Running 45:00 [3]

To celebrate buying new classic boots and missing the group training I did a hard run down around Rockcliffe and the river. Pretty chilly out there when in the wind.

Running 55:00 [2]

A chilly run along the valley and then a fun-filled evening of sitting in front of the computer.

Cross-country skiing 1:45:00 [1]

Skate ski from P10 with TS. Did some technique stuff with her, but picked it up in some sections alone. Went out to Champlain and some other little sections before coming back.

Snow was great, grooming should be better as per usual.

Thinking I should get about 4 pairs of skis hot-boxed.

Cross-country skiing 1:30:00 [1]

First real ski of the year. Classic with OST from P7 along Ridge. Used Vhauti carrot which I didn't think I even owned but found it in my stuff. Ok grip, but super soft snow was just kicking around.
