Running 1:40:00 [1]

Run in the rain with KA along Trail 36 from O'Brien beach. Best part of not working is the ability to go for a run in the middle of the day. Some super nice woods along there, which I think was on the Meech Lake map. I hear it's not a good map to host an event on (I haven't seen it in ages), but some great contour features and rock stuff. Too many trees of course.

It rained and rained.

Dinner on Parliament Hill. Wine, cheese and then a wicked steak. Lots of good hunting stories by someone from the Yukon.

Rained more on the way home.

Late afternoon run with FD after trying to work on a to-do list all day.

Does not feel like winter.

Running 55:00 [1]

Feeling better and a run at dusk with FD. As my Public Safety job is done for now, I really should get out and run during the daylight.

Three days of +10 with rain coming up, wicked.

The Black Keys are very good. As is this gentleman's dancing:

Note

Wow, open the Globe today and an article about Orienteering, which is pretty good and has a link to COF:

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/travel/vacatio...

However, a picture's worth how many words again, and the one the Globe picked to go with the story is someone hiking, with poles strapped to their pack and no sign of racing or even a map. That sucks.

Running 50:00 [1]

Been coughing a lot since Sunday and my voice sounds pretty raspy. I could barely speak to Gary Mar when he called me today. Drinking a massive amount of tea, getting very bored by it.

Run with Francine down by the river and up the canal. She told me a great story of a French lecturer who divided interests and pursuits into class based system and actually used Orienteering as an interest by the wealthy. She's going to track down the slide for me. I'm predicting a 100+ comment thread out of that.

Note

As a means to start rumours, Colleen Brown slept in my bed on Friday.

Also, this just in, The Black Keys are really good.

Raid the Hammer with Alex and Adrian.

More details later. Whatever sickness I have took a lot more out of me than I was expecting.

Lots of fun, they are already talking about doing another race. They were also pumped to have won a split.

Running 50:00 [1]

Run with Patrick in Westdale. Saw just a few deer, but no Man-Deer. Pretty warm run. There was also a foot-deep mulch section on a trail near the north end of Churchill for some reason.

Interesting chat about personal coaches or lack there-of in Canada. Is there any history of Canadian athletes having 2 coaches ie. one for fitness, one for O-technique? Ottawa has that model here on a club-wide system.

River run. It's dark now.

There's something wrong in my throat and I'm getting a fever as well. Just before RTH, awesome.

Anyone out there want to be back-up for my team if I'm toast?

Note

Event with Canadian International Council after work.

And then online National Team chat with Will and Louise. Both of their personalities come through well on that.

And then, more time staring at computer.

Where I was distracted by this:

Trail run from P7 with KillerK. Just a perfect day out there.

Running 45:00 [2]

Run with Freddy after going to the Chelsea Nordic Ski Swap. I picked up a pair of Sean Crooks classic skis, which might be too stiff for me, so anyone looking for classic skis, let me know.

This is excellent, but could have been trickier. Prof or Hobo:

Running 1:10:00 [3]

ZC Zone trail run on a warm night in the Gats.

Long loops near the Chalet des... (aka, what would have been a wicked clubhouse). Up to Ridge and then back and a wee loop onto the Racing trails. On the 2nd loop I took a wrong turn along with 2 others and we added a lot of distance, like a full loop. Meant I only did 3 loops before Dave and the pack collected us for the cool-down.

Sort of a downer workout for me after a downer couple of days.
