Note

First French class which is going to soak-up twice a week apres-work time.

I think a bike trainer would help this. Or morning runs. Yes, better look for a trainer.

As per usual, very painful first class I could mostly only think of German words to say.

Best part of the night, a girl from Spain complaining that Ottawa isn't a good city because there's only opera in town twice a year and that the restaurants aren't really busy on a Tuesday night.

Running 45:00 [1]

Run along the river after work; with the workout yesterday didn't make sense to go to the O speed work and didn't really have time after work as well.

Also biked to and from work (about 50 minutes) but didn't work hard enough to log it. Well, maybe a wee section on QE keeping up with a fully-kitted out carbon dude.

Running 1:30:00 [3]

Tuesday night trail run special; Dave McMahon workout around the Fortune Trails. 4 sets of loops, have no idea of the time, but total time running was probably around 1.5 hours.

Felt pretty solid at times, would have felt better with a headlight which I passed as I was going out the door.

The beer at the Chelsea Pub with Freddy afterwards was awesome.

He is racking up bear stories; another 2 from the past month.

Orienteering Training 50:00 [1]

Hanging controls for the Kanata Lakes B Meet. I was super lucky to get the heaviest rain of the day exactly when I was out in the wood; good job!

People were pretty happy with the courses; they were tougher than maybe they should have been.

Orienteering Training 1:30:00 [1]

Guess at the time, but hanging flags on a super nice Saturday (although it rained later on). Kanata Lakes in the right spots is wicked awesome as the kids used to say.

This weekend finishes up my Level 2 Officials.

Orienteering Training 50:00 [1]

Doing some vetting at Kanata Lakes. Woods are in just awesome shape.

Cycling 35:00 [1]

I'm so logging the ride from Carleton home on the bike because while the elevation change was probably -1 m it was into a serious headwind the whole way and was serious work.

This is going to be a serious busy week, but soon it will be Happy Hour again:

(Prize to whomever can name the famous DJ here)

(Secondary prize to the spin-off band from these guys).

Running 50:00 [1]

Terry Fox Run starting at Carleton and along the canal. I managed to forget my watch so I'm guestimating the time. I "ran" the first 4 km and then coasted the rest.

Guess I'm healthy, but still felt rough in the morning and throat is still swollen and sore.

Saw The Town last night, very solid outing by Ben Affleck. He didn't make me want to see him beaten up in this movie, which is a change from his earlier work.

Cycling 25:00 [1]

Commute to work.

I have no idea if anyone actually reads this, but what are the thougths on logging bike commuting? Do you need to be working at a certain level to justify it? Time or distance? Can I log this if I'm wearing my roadie helmet but not when I get my urban one?

Running 50:00 [3]

Dave's Special Tuesday Night Trail Run on The Wolf Trail. ("That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten.")

I managed to wait until the moment that Dave said go and then decided the need to change shirts and thus was at the back of the pack. Felt just toast on the early uphill and settle into a spot running absolutely alone for the majority of the run. There were over 50 people out and I ran basically alone for the whole trail. For a section I tried shifting it into the Giv'er Gear, but didn't reel anyone in.

Hot chocolate in Chelsea tasted good afterwards.

Running 35:00 [1]

Now this was a slow run as I just wanted to get out the door and along the river a bit before a conference call. Legs felt mega toast.

First night by myself in the new house as Jeff's gone to Sudan until mid December.

Orienteering Race race 51:55 [4]

Farsta race in Almonte. Had a good first loop, then Eric and Alex got away from me and the legs from yesterday were in brutal shape.

I think it's time to start taping ankles again, went over on my right one a few times and it's getting pretty sensitive.

Great course, very good use of limited woods. This is the type of event Edmonton should do with some of their maps, but that would be different.

Big congrats to KillerK for her first Orienteering victory in the Intermediate.

Running long 2:00:00 [1]

Just a wicked run with La Femme and KillerK (both of whom should be posting on here soon). I'm pretty sure I had my first ever soy latte in Chelsea after and it was mega good.

Following the run hammered over to the House of Paint hip hop festival which I witnessed some very decent break-dancing.

Best crew I saw: from the Yukon of course. They had t-shirts with their sponsors (I'm sure keeping it real also involves Gov of Canada and Yukon sponsors). They were young, wore white jeans and could move.

Legs totally dead on the way home on the Empire.

Wednesday Sep 8, 2010 #

Note

Sadly no time for a run as Nancy Pelosi and I had dinner in Ottawa.*

*(While both of us were eating at the same time within a couple blocks, I suppose it was not the same dinner. I also missed her at the Chateau by 10 minutes).

Tuesday Sep 7, 2010 #

Note

So for the 2rd time ever I drove up to the Gats and then found out I had forgotten some important piece of gear. This time running shoes and KillerK and I had to drive back. Was just pouring rain and lots of lightening.

Thursday Sep 2, 2010 #

Note

Wanted to get to the Gats but had to finish moving and do some running around. New house is awesome, probably the nicest place I'll live in for a while (especially if I own the next place I live).

Drinks at Chez Luciens with the usual amazingly awful service as is the charm of the place.

Sadly no time to watch an episode of Bev Hills 90210 since it was 90210 Day. Somewhere I hope the actor who played Steve has enough to eat.
