Cross-country skiing race 1:36:25 [5] 27.0 km (3:34 / km)

Gatineau Loppet 27km. Will write more in a bit.

Question: would glasses be a sponsorship option in Orienteering? I don't think many use them for competition, but certainly everyone competing owns a pair. Came up in conversation with a rep at the Gat Loppet.

Cross-country skiing 55:00 [1]

Get home from Costa Rica this morning. Head to Gat Loppet and go for a ski around the Trail 15 trails to check them out. Yes, skiing a loppet the day after taking an overnight flight from the tropics does seem to be a dumb idea.

Cross-country skiing 1:30:00 [2]

Well it warmed up a bit and Ottawa might get a mega storm tomorrow so figured I should ski tonight. Started with Martin but we managed to not check technique so I skated and he was doing classic. He's doing CSM this weekend, which should be a great event (one of these years I'll do it...)

Cross-country skiing long 1:30:00 [4]

So, that was a thing.
Since I signed up for the Nakkerloppet I figured I should ski it, regardless of the temperature. Well it was around -24 and I got bundled up and headed for Nakkertok. Wore the warm-ups and the vest and actually didn't feel too chilly. Snow was of course mega slow, but had grip, toes a bit cold but body was fine (hand sweating).

The signs for the course were, hmm a bit hit and miss. Went past the first fire in which a couple of guys were there checking off names. I went past and then looped around and came through again. They then said I was in first, which couldn't have been true as someone else was off the front. I kept following signs and made it back. At the finish people were shocked I had arrived so early, well turns out I missed a big loop in the north.

So, no idea how far I skied or anything like that.

Running 45:00 [2]

Evening run along the river.

Just got an email back from the CEO of Cross-Country Ski Canada, looking forward to grabbing a coffee with him at the end of the month to chat about opportunities to help out.

Cross-country skiing (skating) 1:05:00 [3]

Very nice skate workout with Dave and Lise around the Camp Fortune Racing trails. Fresh snow was falling and they had only barely been groomed. The original workout was shifted as Mo showed up with the Chelsea Nordique.

Hill workout and then a short sprint relay in which I was partnered with the famous Frank the Beef! One of those training sessions I was happy to escape without breaking any gear.

Cross-country skiing (skating) 1:30:00 [3]

Well I went out to ski the Pinks and southern section of the Gloppet, parking at Asticou. Well once I started skiing I realized that only the Parkways were groomed and thus this would a Parkway ski. Which is really boring.

But man, are my Salomon skis fast! I'm sure the amount of ice in the snow really helps.

Telemark/Alpine 2:00:00 [1]

Another nice day of tele skiing at Tremblant. A bit more snow on the hills overnight.
