Running 1:15:00 [3]

Morning run with Chad on a wicked day, ran out of time to get to the Ski-O at Strath Wilderness Centre. Might have been a longer run but I still don't know how to use my Polar.

Orienteering Race 20:31 [5]

Really sluggish race at False Creek, which was a cool area. Just didn't have anything in the long legs sections and must have lost lots of time during them.

Cross-country skiing (skating) 1:30:00 [3]

Skiing at Cypress with Sarah, Nicki and Markez. Awesome conditions and Cypress is way nicer than what Vancouver skiers had told me. Most of them had me convince that Cypress was somewhere you had to tolerate and how hellish it was to ski there. Other than (like North Van) most of the trails only go up-hill, it was great. The trails are a little wide, but I'm sure there's some single track classic trails in there somewhere.

Markez somehow has mastered the Alsgaard Skate without even trying. The man is a machine.

Lost Lagoon Sprint

First event for me at the Sprint Camp after adventures in airports the day before. Probably not thrilled to start with a mass-start, but what the hell.

I don't seem to be in the results, but finished just behind Louise so guessed at the time. I was in the Magnus train earlier, but couldn't hold it.

Had some sloppy navigating and little flow early, lots of rust.

Note

So, evidently flying to Vancouver on Friday 13 was a poor choice.

Flight was cancelled due to Ice Fog which prevented the plane from landing to pick us up and by the time they started sorting things out, the Vancouver flights were full. So, day off from work for nothing and back home for a nap since I'd be up mega early.

Cross-country skiing 25:00 [4]

Some intervals at Goldbar. First was pure skating; later was no poles. Zero warm-up on the first and shockingly, it felt awful. The no poles felt good, I totally put the junior girls in their place.

Cross-country skiing 45:00 [2]

Some warm-up (post first interval) and cool down. Lots of double pole.

Lots of Birkie folks out. And of course, the temp is going down to -19 for the race. But, don't care, I'll be in Van.

Telemark/Alpine (tele) 1:00:00 [3]

Tele skiing at Marmot on just an awesome day (about 5 hours of skiing). Party at Marc Vien's new trailer the night before. Skiing with an Austrian who totally left me in her dust the whole day. Probably the best tele I've done; fell more often early in the day as I was more aggressive than in the past. Marmot hill was really nice too.

New boots felt good.

Cross-country skiing (both) 1:00:00 [3]

Kind of a strange ski. It was either hard double polling and arms only diagonal, or really slow cool down stuff. Really fast, but man do we ever need some more snow on top.

Running intervals 15:00 [5]

Intervals on the 200m indoor track at the Kinsmen. Really nice facility. Did not feel smooth out there, which is normal doing track intervals with clunky shoes by myself.

I have no idea how to work my Polar 610. I suppose I should look for a manual or something like that.

Running warm up/down 45:00 [2]

Warming up and cooling down up the upper track at Kinsman.

On the way into the track saw maybe one of the hottest girls I've ever seen on a track outside of Swedish high jumpers.

Cross-country skiing (skating) 45:00 [4]

Went to Goldbar to skate, but it was all ice, so I just worked on my double pole the whole time. Hopefully we'll get a bit of fresh snow and then the skiing should be awesome this week. If not, might need to break out the klister.

Hockey or Soccer 1:00:00 [3]

First shinny game of the year and was pretty good. My hands of course were awful, but skating was good. 4 on 3 so it felt like we were penalty killing the whole time.
